THE GRASS BURR
WEDNESDAY. FEBRUARY 15, 1950
1950 Basketball Managers are. from left to right: John Allen Galbreaith and
Buddy Merritt
Hustling Managers
John Allen Galbreaith and Buddy
Merritt, managers of the Weather-
ford High School Kangaroos, are
much more important than some
people think. Without them the
basketball team would really have
a hard time. They are in charge of
all equipment, uniforms, shoes and
medicine, when on a trip. They
look after the player's wounds and
bruises. John Allen is kept quite
busy keeping the statistical score
during a game and if you don’t
think that that’s a job just look at
the book sometime. Buddy is kept
running from the bench where he
washes the player’s faces at time
out, gives them resin for their
hands and looks after the basket-
balls. During practice, John Allen
and Buddy take turn about referee-
ing the practice games. The one not
refereeing must clean up the equip-
ment room and take the laundry to
town. Buddy says that if he is large
enough he will play basketball next
year but if not, he will be manager.
John Allen plans to go out for
the team next year since he will be
a senior.
If you still don’t beleive that a
manager is valuable to the team
just ask the team members.
