Methodist Camp in Mulberry
Canyon was the site of the
double-ring vows of Laura Lyn
Wyatt and Joe Coy Searcy.
David Hamblen, pastor of St.
Paul United Methodist Church
in Abilene, officiated the If
a.m. ceremony on Aug. 27.
The parents of the bride are
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wyatt of
Mulberry Canyon, formerly of
Levelland; The groom’s parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Coy Searcy of
Abilene. Grandparents of the
couple are Henry Camp of
Snyder, Mrs. N.M. Wyatt of
Nashville, Tenn., Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Allen of Abilene, and
Mrs. Muriel Searcy of Clyde.
The small country church,
located on a wooded .hillside,
had large terra cotta pots filled
with greenery and flowering
plants flanking the double-door
entrance. The pews were mark-
ed with ivory satin ribbons and
greenery. The front of the
church was decorated with Bos-
ton ferns in antique wicker
baskets. r
An old-time hymn sing pre-
ceded the wedding ceremony.
The piano music was provided
by Dina Hoffman of Dallas,
sister of the bride. Vocalists
were Mark Mullino and Leah
Teagqe, both of Abilene. They
sang “In This Very Room,’’
accompanied by Hoffman. “Be
Thou My Vision” was played as
the mothers were seated, and
the wedding party entered to
“Wedding March’’ by Richard
Wagner.
The bride, escorted by her
father, wore the wedding dress
worn by her mother over 31
years ago. The original model
gown of white imported Chantil-
ly lace and nylon tulle over net
and satin,, was styled with a
portrait neckline outlined with

escalloped lace embroidered
with iridescent sequins and seed
pearls. The fitted lace bodice
had long, sleeves extending to
points over her hands, and
terminated with a point at the
center front waistline. From this
stemmed a waltz-length skirt of
tulle, fully shirred and encircled
at the lower hipline with a wide
band of scalloped lace.
The double-tiered fingertip-
length veil, attached to a circlet
of pearls, beads, and satin
leaves and flowers, featured a
pouf at the crown. It was new
and was made by the bride's
mother. She carried a linen
handkerchief given to her at
birth by her aunt, Rita Robbins
of Snyder. She wore a blue
garter and placed pennies mint-
ed in the birth years of the bride
and groom in her shoe. Her
bouquet was a nosegay of
rosebuds, asters, alstroemeria,
and snapdragons in shades of
white and rose.
Lisa Adams of Albany was
the maid of honor. Serving the
groom as best man was Charles
Hukill of Abilene. Ushers were
George Chisholm and James
Perry, bdth of Abilene.
Adartis wore a country blue
satin tea-length gown. It featur-
ed a portrait neckline and a
bodice which was fitted and
extended to a point in front and
back. She carried a smaller
version of the bridal bouquet.
The groom and the best mem
wore black tuxedos with black
ties and cummerbunds. They
wore boutonnieres of pink rose-
buds.
Following the wedding cere-
mony, the bride’s parents host-
ed a luncheon and reception in
the dining hall at Butmem
Methodist Camp. Douglas Wof-
ford of Dallas, brother-in-law of
the bride, gave the invocation of
blessings on the n^w couple and
the meal. The guests were
served at banquet tables decor-
ated with greenery entwined
with blue and rose ribbons and
flowers in shades of white and
rose.
The bride’5 table was cover-
ed with an ivory cloth with a
hand - crocheted overlay. The
three-tiered cake was decorated
with fresh flowers in .shades of
white and rose.
The round table which held
tHfc guest book was laid with a
floor-length cloth of country
blue and centered with a round
hand-crocheted doily made by
the bride’s late grandmother,
Ruby Camp. A basket decorated
with satin rosetttes in shades of
rose and mauve held rice bags.
Assisting the camp,staff in
serving were Janna Wofford of
Dallas, sister of the bride; Dot
Stokes, Rita Robbins, and Pam
Black, all of Snyder and aunts of
the bride; and Amy Camp of
Snyd6r, cousin of the bride. The
staff members serving were
Jody Dean, Mickey Winter, Lyn

The bride is a graduate of
Levelland High School and is
currently attending Me Murry
College in Abilene.
A graduate of Wylie High
School, the groom is, currently
attending Me Murry College and
is amployedby Abilene Commu-
nity Theater. •
After a short trip to Sar.
Antonio, the couple will be at
home in Abilene.
Special guests from Level-
land were Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Billingsley, Mr. and Mrs. Jerolr
Parmer, Lynne Cherry, an
Beth Cherry.
