Charles and Vida Scott of
Fredericksburg, formerly of
Baytown, will celebrate their
50th wedding anniversary Dec.
25. The couple married Dec. 25,
1937, in Baytown.
The couple are unable to
travel great distances to be with
their family and friends, so the
family decided to honor them
with a card shower. Cards may
be mailed to the Scotts at 2007
Briarwood Circle,
Fredericksburg, Texas 78624.

CHRISTMAS GALLERY
ESTHER HOFFPAUIR gives a demonstration of china painting at
the Art League of Baytown’s Christmas Gift Gallery, which Is being
held through Dec. 19 at the West Town Shopping Center, Decker
’Drive at Baker Road. The Gallery Is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on
Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A Baytown resident for 61 years,

BOC'S HORTICULTURE PROJECT DONA TION
Club news
THE EVENING Pilot Club of Baytown recently employee of BOC and Evening Pilot Club cor-

Dorotha Hurst will host the Christmas meeting for the ’39 Study
Club at 2:30 p.m. Dec, 18 in herhome. She will give the program “A
Special Christmas.’’ Members will make a contribution to Sheltering
Arms in lieu of exchanging Christmas gifts.
President Elizabeth Summers conducted the Dec. 2 meeting and
welcomed Idell Anderson, president of the San Jacinto District.
Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, and Louise Reynolds, chairman
of the endangered species committee of San Jacinto District.
Mrs. Reynolds noted endangered species is a project of Phyllis V.
Roberts, General Federation of Women’s Clubs International presi-
dent Mrs Reynolds directed her remarks to the endangered species
in Texas and displayed pictures of the flowers, birds and animals
that should be preserved for Texas future heritage.
Ida Griffith hosted the meeting and arranged the program. She
made a gift to the GFWC endangered species project in Mrs
Reynold's honor
Mrs Anderson announced the San Jacinto District spring meeting
will be March 23-24 at the Hobby Hilton Inn in Houston She also
showed a new pin designed for the TFWC. |
Baytown Branch, AAUW
The Baytown Branch. American Association of University Women
will hold a Christmas smorgasbord international in flavor and dress
at 6 p.m. Dec 12 in the home of Linda Raymer Assisting with
hostesses duties will .be Vera Parker, Lela MeClanahan and Lily Lee
Spouses and friends will be special guests.
Members will bring unwrapped toys or staple food items to be
given to the residents of the Baytow-n Area Women s Center
For the program. Jennifer Muldrow will present “A Cajun
Christmas.’’
President Grace Ffrench reported the club’s garage sale a suc-
cess Proceeds will be used for the scholarship program.

Mrs Ffrench conducted the Oct 27 business meeting in the home
of Royce Ann Walker. Jo Roosa, coordinator of the Baytown Clean
City Commission, and Bobby Rountree, assistant city manager,
spoke on “Baytown 2000" including issues and challanges facing the
City of Baytown in coming years Kathy Botto, president of the
League of Women Voters, was a special guest. Others included
ijynette Parsons and Carol Peterson.

recipient
Vivian Smith, program vice president, presented an AAUW pin to
Mrs Muldrow in appreciation of her service as president in 1986-87.

| The meeting concluded with a poem presentation of “Little Orphan
Annie" by Mrs. Muldrow.

* Baytown Area Quilt Guild will have a Christmas party at 4 p.m.
6ec. 13 in the home of Ruth Henderson, 700 Elmwood.
* Members who participated in making Christmas blocks will have a
chance to win one of two double Christmas quilts.
The Guild had a Christmas tree on display at the Baytown
Historical Museum for the Dec. 5 Christmas Tree Fantasy. Gay
Riggs assisted by Laurie Stone led a workshop to make doll and heart
decorations for the tree.
During the November meeting, Mary Heeg showed several of the
B tied quilts she has completed this year. Etch one of her grand-
children In Michigan will receive one this Christmas.

Houston. He weighed 7 pounds.

ture. Color or black and white pictures will be accepted. Pic-
tures may be picked up after they are published.
There will be an additional charge of $6.51 per column inch
