TEXAS LOSES TO FILM MEN
In an exhibition game Sunday, 30 April,
and what an exhibition! - the Paramount
Cubs defeated our ball team by a 12 to 3
score. We were unfortunate in being
without the services of such stellar per-
formers as Stanton, Barnes, and Bach-
man, thus our in'ield was correspondingly
weak.
It was some game from the spectators'
point of view. A political speech over
the loudspeaker preluded the game which
was officially begun by the throwing of
the first ball by a dignified whitehaired
local politician. He disappeared later on
during a scrap one of the umpires indulg-
ed in with an indignant spectator.
A little later a bunch of Indians march-
ed around the field advertising a certain
make of car, further impeding the game.
Then, of course, all hands had to pose
for pictures, - stills as well as movies - -
the Hollywood touch, you know.
As for the game itself, there's noth-
ing much to be said. In spite of our
weakened team we might have done bet-
ter had all hands been on their toes.
Bittner, with three hits, stood out for the
TEXAS - and who can forget "Shotput's"
b i liant tackle on second?!

1WHAT'S WHAT
Last Monday the transport Chaumont
left San Pedro for the East Coast carry-
ing a number of our officers and men and
their families to their new stations.
During the week of 15 May the Battle-
ships will be occupied in the following
manner: Texas at sea for firing of
N. B. P. and to return to port on its
completion. That may be as early as
Wednesday morning. Judging from last
week's weather we could not be too sure
of that, however. The Pennsylvania and
Oklahoma will be there too, and the
Arkansas will be the towing ship. The
Arizona will be alongside the Medusa for
routine overhaul and the Maryland will
be at anchor at San Pedro. The Nevada
is scheduled for uncompleted practices.
The West Virginia left this morning for
the Navy Yard, Puget Sound.
As fas as we know the aircraft carriers
have nothing to do all week, but to swing
around their hooks off Long Beach.
The Salt Lake City is due to leave to-
day for the Navy Yard, Mare Island.
The following schedule will be followed
by the Texas (weather permitting).
15 May -........underway from San Pedro.
15-19 May.-...-Fire Night Practices.
19-22 May -........A. anchor.
23 May -........Underway during day
experimental runs.
24-28 May -........At anchor.
29 May -......-.Underway for Navy Yard
Puget Sound.
3 June ---......Arrive Navy Yard Puget
Sound.
6 Sept. ..-... Scheduled date for com-
pletion of overhaul.
A LOT OF US DID TOO
"Jim and I were bunkies when we en-
listed in the Navy."
"Did you sleep in the same bunk?"
"No. We believed the same bunk!"NAVAL ACADEMY FOOTBALL SCHEDULE 1933

Who says "There ain't no Santy
Claus"? The Oklahoma baseball tean
and fans know better. Last Saturday,
the Texas' team gave a fine representa-
tion of old "Chris" lacking only some
whiskers, a touch of makeup and a couple
of reindeers. The Christmas season be-
ing rather remote, the Okey boys were
so surprised at the Texas realistic Santa
demonstration that they tried in vain to
return the many presents. However, in
the true Texas' unselfish spirit our boys
re us d to accept and the Oklahoma check-
ed up a 7-6 victory.
Five fatal errors, three misjudged flies
and some super-weird baserunning ac-
counted for our being, where we deserved,
on the short end of the score.
Both Kirschke and Smith pitched well.
Ordinary support would have returned
either a victory.TEXAS AB

LEAVE AND TRANSFER
(Continued from Page Two.)
Other men will be granted leave during
the stay of the ship at the Navy Yard.
Not more than 25 days leave (except,
reenlistment leave) will be granted at one
time in order that men will have avail-
able leave for emergencies and at Christ-
mas.
Many requests for leave are received
covering the period the ship is underway
from San Pedro to Bremerton. Thege
re-uests are not approved. Officers and]
men will be on board during the trip
North.
Many men desire transfer to other
ships which do not go to the Navy Yard
this summer. These requests will not
be approved. The Navy Yad overhaul
is part of the schedule for all ships and
all men (married or unmarried) must be
prepared to go where the ship is ordered.
