Robert Stevenson, 31, of Kingsland, died on December 26,2003
following a lengthy illness. Robert was bom November 6, 1952
' to Douglas and Mae Stevenson in Stamford, Texas. He graduated
from Stamford High School in' 1972 after a very successful high
school career in football and track. He won the state champion-
ship in the 100 yard dash breaking school records with a time of
9.9 seconds, a record he held for many years. He was employed
for many years with Haliburton Oil Company as a truck driver.
He then moved to Kingsland, Texas where he was self-employed
for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Mae, and
also by a brother, Jackie Wayne Stevenson.
Robert is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Meagan and
Tim Marler of Spring, Texas, one son Derek Stevenson of
Kingsland, Texas, two grandchildren Kaley and Cade Marler of
Spring, Texas, one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Danny
Edwards of Kingsland, Texas, two brothers and sister-in-laws,
Jerry and Betty Stevenson of Haskell, Texas and Melvin and Janette
Stevenson of Haskell, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces,
nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
The body was cremated and a memorial service was held on
January 10,2004 at Trinity Baptist Church in Stamford with Hoby
Strand officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Highland
Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.

Raymond Mitchell Hahn
Raymond Mitchell Hahn, 85, of Avon Park, Florida died Wednes-
day, January 7, 2004 in Lake Placid, Florida. The body was cre-
mated and memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday,
January 15. 2004 al the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with
burial to follow in the Rockdale Cemetery. Mr. Hahn was bom
October II, 1918 to Henry and Clara Hahn in Chicago, Illinois
and had been a resident of Avon Park, Florida since 1983, com-
ing from Markham, Illinois. He was a machinist and a veteran of
World War II. and was a member of the VFW, Foresters, Photo-
Club of Blue Island and was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife: Ruby Mabel Willoughby Hahn of
Avon Park, Florida, two daughters: Charlotte Hahn James of Lake
Placid. Florida and Janet Miller of Lake Wales, Florida. One son:
Philip Hahn of Markham, Illinois. Three grandsons: Jason James
of Stafford Spfihgs, CT, Andrew Hahn of Boulder, Colorado,
and Jeremiah Hahn of Los Angeles, CA. Four granddaughters:
Nancy James of Tallahassee, Florida, Jennifer Emsteen of Buf-
falo Grove, Illinois. Sara Verwers of Kansas City MO. and
Katherine Hahn of Elsah, Illinois. Five great grandchildren: Payton
and Lauren Emsteen. Nicholas and Jake Verwers and Jillian James.
One niece Carole Jones and two nephews: Dr. Craig Humphreys
and Dick Humphreys.
One daughter, Patricia Hahn Drexel and one sister, Mary
Humphreys, preceded him in death.
John R. Nail
John R. Nail, 80, a retired builder, died January 9, 2004 al a
nursing home in Haskell, Texas* Mr. Nail was bom February 5,
1923 in Stamford, Texas. He served in the Air Transport Com-
mand of the Air Force in the CBI Theater during World War II as
an on-board aerial engineer. He received numerous awards in-
cluding two bronze battle stars, two air medals and the distin-
guished flying cross.
Mr. Nail married Ruth Gilstrap from Haskell on June 2, 1943
and they spent many years as residents in Stamford, Abilene, and
in Mineral Wells. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and
a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, Stamford, Texas.
Survivors include his wife Ruth, son Ronald Nail and wife
Deborah of Haskell, daughter Janice Nail and grandson, Travis
Mathe of Fort Worth, grandson James Nail and wife Debra, and
three great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jared and Josh of Lubbock.
Mr. Nail is also survived by two sisters, Doris Mooty of Longview
and Lois Mohat of Denton. 1 ,
Should you desire, the family requests that memorials be made
to the National Heart Association, the American Diabetes Asso-
ciation, and the Alzheimer's Association.

Rosie Mary Ihrner
Rosie Mary Turner. 46. died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at an
Abilene hospital. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Satur-
day. January 10, 2<M>4 at the Bethel Church of God in Christ in
Stamford with the Elders Vernon Session and Jerry Jordan offi-
'ciating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Cemetery un-
der the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Rosie was born April 26. 1957 in Stamford to the late Matt and
Bertia Shaw. Rosie married the late Eli Turner in Aspermont in
1986. She was baptized jit an early age at the Mt. Olive Baptist
Church. During her adult life she reunited with Bethel Church of
God in Christ. Rosie graduated from Stamford High School in
1976. She lived her life to its fullest, always with a smile and
something positive to say to everyone she came in contact with.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Bertia
Shaw, her grandparents: Mr. And Mrs. Memory Bailey, five sis-
ters, Bertha, Ann, Bobbie. Dorothy and Edrina, 4 brothers: Curlee,
Matthew Wayne. George and James.
She is survived by I son: Torris.L. Shaw of Navasota. Texas, I
grandchild, 2 sisters: Ollie Faye Mosley of Midland and Gloria
Spencer of Abilene, 3 brothers: Johnny Applin, Earnest Applin,
and Lonnie Applin all of Stamford.

Russ was born September 20.
1948 in Stamford, the son of
the late Lloyd E. “Red” and Mary Caudle Million. After graduat-
ing from Stamford High School in 1967, he attended North Texas
State* Uhive[sity and received a degree in Journalism from the
University of Texas. Russ' lite was filled with adventure and a
variety of jobs that took him all over the country. As a journalist,
he was published in several magazines including Texas Monthly.
Rus> was most proud of his work for the State of Texas. He
Worked on Governor Ann Richard's program to institute drug
and alcohol treatment in the state prison system. He was also
assistant to legal counsel lor Attorney General Gary Mauro’s al-
ternative fuels program, and worked as legislative aide to Ronnie
Earle, now Travis County District Attorney. At his death, Russ
was honored to serve as Program Director for HIV Outreach
Services for Mosaic I amily Services in Dallas.
Russ had a vast knowledge of literature and history and par-
ticularly enjoyed his extensive collection of WWl and WWII mili-
tary memorabilia He spent a lifetime loving and working on vin-
tage cars and hotrods, and had spent the past ten years re-build-
ing a 1929 lord pickup Russ will most fondly be remembered
for his remarkable ability to tell a tall Texas tale. He never failed to
entertain friends and family with his jokes, stories, and his hair-
raising adventures
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving Russ are his sister. Marilee Denson of Stamford;
nephew and his wile. Aaron and Sarah Pritchard of Orlando. FL;
niece. Megan Denson of Stamford; aunt and uncle Milton and
Vivian Halerius of Stamford; his cherished dog Hank; numerous
aunts, uncles and cousins
Memorials may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.
Pallbearers were Bob’Gill, Griffin High. Russell Buster. Jerry
Hufiaker. Gary Bob Caudle, and Kevin Pritchard. Honorary<>aU.
