College
election
January 5th has tentatively
been set as the election date
for residents in the subdi-
visions of Sage glen and
Green Tee Terrace wishing
to be annexed into the San
Jacinto College district.
A petition with approxi-
mately 300 signatures was
presented to the board of
regents asking that an addi-
tional 10,000 acres be taken
into the college district.
College officials had hoped
to hold the election this
month, but proble m s in
verifying the validity
of signatures on the petition
caused a delay. Many resi-
dents who had signed the
petition nave recently moved
into new homes, but had not
updated their voter registra-
tion certificates.
Confirmation of the ten-
tative date is expected to
come this week from the
board of education.
Voters will vote in the sub-
division of Green Tee Ter-
race at the sales office at
3100 Country Club Drive,
or at the Yorkshire model
home in Sageglen at 11563
Sagecanyon.
If voters approve that the
area be annexed by the col-
lege district, this would
mean a lower tuition for stu-
dents in those subdivision if
they attend one of the San
Jacinto Colleges.
The election has come
about due to the pending
construction of the South
Campus of San Jacinto on
Beamer Road.
Groundbreaking for that
structure is expected to take
place next month. The school
is expected to be ready tor
classes a year from January.
The addition of 10,000
acres would extend the dis-
trict from the Pasadena
school district boundary
lines on the west, and to
Clear Creek on the south.
Dates tor absentee voting
will be announced next week.
Absentee voting will take
place at the San Jacinto main
campus at 8060 Spencer
Highway.
