December 19, 2011 - Crow Flat families are getting ready for Christmas. The best
Christmas gift of all is the joy of being with family. Make this the most memora-
ble Christmas ever. I wish all of my friends and family a very happy holiday and
peace and love throughout the new year.
We received some much-needed moisture this week. It hasn’t been
much, but we’ll take it! The reports have been from under a tenth of an inch to
two tenths. It continues to keep the dust settled, and we are grateful for every
drop.
Nora Lea Lewis and Janet Myers had a nice weekend with their family.
Gary and Kay Scarbrough and their granddaughter Jaelyn were here from Sierra
Blanca. Kearney Lewis came from Artesia and brought Janet’s son Tyler Harris
from Carlsbad. They spent the weekend helping Gary do work on the ranch.
Friday, Bobby and Shyra Tate and Quentin and Dana Dean attended the
annual Guadalupe National Park Christmas Party. The party was held in Carlsbad,
and Shyra reports that they all had a good time. Bobby and Shyra left their chil-
dren, Eli and Kinsey, with Bobby’s aunt, Dobie Bradford, in Carlsbad. Saturday,
Quentin and Dana did some Christmas shopping in El Paso.
Pete and Minnie Lewis are looking forward to Christmas. Their grand-
daughter, Mecca Hickox, is home from college. Mecca is attending Howard Col-
lege in Big Spring, Texas. Mecca is the daughter of Deborah Hickox.
I had a busy week. I am on the nominating committee at Dell Telephone
Cooperative, and we held our annual meeting Wednesday. We enjoyed a delicious
lunch with the Board of Directors. The lunch was prepared by the ladies of the co-
operative. Thursday and Friday, I had the pleasure of singing with the elementary
students at Dell City Elementary School. I am helping them prepare for the an-
nual Christmas Program that will take place Tuesday evening in the school gym.
Saturday, I went Christmas shopping in El Paso with my good friends, Gerald and
Terri Gentry. We took time from our shopping to run over to the racetrack and
watch Craig Gentry’s horse run. Sunday evening, Terri and Gerald came to my
house for supper and we exchanged Christmas gifts. It was a very nice evening
with special friends.
Bobby and Pat Jones are getting ready to have their grandchildren here
for Christmas. They will be here Friday. Bobby and Pat and Elizabeth went to
Weed Saturday, and Elizabeth got to visit with her great-granddaughter, Evie
Jones. They enjoyed a nice lunch with Evie’s parents, Mike and Anna Jones, and
then they went and cut Christmas trees.
Merry Christmas! Have a safe and happy holiday.
