ed home and is improving after
undergoing surgery in a Sherman
hospital.

have purchased the house vacated
by Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Heard
at Leonard and will make their
home there. They will certainly
be missed by the people in this
community.

A miscellaneous shower honor-
ing Miss Betty Nan Carpenter,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gran-
ville E. Carpenter of Ft. Worth,
was held Monday, July 20 from
four until five thirty o’clock in
the home of Mirs. L. M. LaRoe.
Receiving guests with the hon-
oree were her mother, Mrs. Car-
penter, Mrs. Comer Cash Baxter
of Weslaco, mother of the future
bride-groom, Mrs. Homer Caston,
garndmother, and Miss Jan Car-
penter, sister of the bride-elect.
Arrangements of gladiola and
spring flowers decorated the re-
ceiving rooms. A large doll dress-
ed in a replica of the brides wed-
ding gown graced the coffee table.
The tea table was laid with a
floor length white organdy cloth,
with crystal appointments. A
teired arrangement of white
chrysanthemums flanked by tall
white tapers was reflected in a
large mirror.
Miss Texanna Latimer poured
punch and Mrs. Billy Grimes
served angel cake squares deco
rated with white rosebuds.
