Don Lewis Will
Direct Army Show
With two “Oscars” added to an
'already lengthy list of honors,
2nd. Lt. Don Lewis, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Lewis of Friona, will
soon begin a world tour as di-
rector of “Rolling Along of 1960,”
the U. S. Army variety show.
As assistant special services
officer at Fort Lee, Virginia, Lt.
Lewis organized and directed the
30-voice Second Army Quarter-
master Command chorus which
took first place in the recorded
phase of the all-army entertain-
ment contests for this year. He
also directed and sang in a quar-
tet which captured top spot in
the live phase of the contests.
These two honors earned him the
engraved statuettes patterned
after the Hollywood Academy
Awards.
Since army regulations pro-
hibit an officer’s performing in
Rolling Along, Lt. Lewis has been
made director of the 2 5-member
troupe which will visit army
posts throughout the world dur-

Sunday Al Dallas
Funeral services for I. F. Farrar
of Leonard, a retired farmer, were
held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Ma-
con-Holcomb Funeral Chapel, in
Dallas. The Rev. Olan Runnels
officiated. Burial was in the In-
dian Creek Cemetery near Leon-
ard.
Mr. Farrar, 71, died Friday in
an Austin hospital after ia long
illness.
Born in Hillsboro, Hill County,
he had spent most of his life in
Leonard.,
Survivors are his wife, two
daughters, a son, three brothers,
a sister and two grandchildren.
Cummings Family
Reunion Sunday
The 'annual Cummings family re-
union was held July 10th at Bon-
ham State Park.
There were 73 present. All
brought well-filled lunch baskets
and an enjoyable time was en-
joyed by all.
The reunion is held each year
on the Sunday nearest July 11th.
The group, decided to meet at
Bonham State Park again in 1061.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Sheridan
of Spokane, Washington, spent
last week end with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Sheridan and
James Ray.

Lt. Lewis is a graduate of Mid-
western University, Wichita Falls.
He is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralpr Braddy of Lane, and Mr.

Bailey Schools To
Begin Summer
Term Monday
Bailey schols will open a sum-
mer session Monday, July 18.
The first class period for the
six weeks session will begin, at
7:40 a. m.
The school buses will make
regular runs. The summer ses-
sion is held to enable students
to help with the crop harvest in
September.
The schools at Gober Dodd
City and North Fannin will also
begin a summer term of school
on Monday, July 18.
L. Z. Wilson
Died In Dallas
L. Z. Wilson, 47, passed away
at Dallas July 2, J960. Funeral
services were held at Dallas July
4 with burial in Oak Grove Ce-
metery in that city.
Mr. Wilson was a niece of Mrs.
Georgia Flanagan. He is survived
by his father, Walter Wilson, of
Sherman, his wife, three brothers
and five sisters.
Mrs. Flanagan and Artie Stew-
man attended the services.
Mrs. John Nance is visiting her
daughters, Mrs. W. A. Edwards
and children, and Mrs. Tom Chil-
dress in Dallas. She will accom-
pany them to visit another dau-
ghter, Mrs. L. D. Jackson and
family in Clovis, N. M. and at
Portales, N. M.
Mrs. G. G. Cullom of Denison
is visiting in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. I. Nelson this week.
