General Medaris is the first com-
mander of America’s new Missile
Command. He has been a member
of the Armed Services since 1918,
when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine
Corps at the age of 16. Prior to that
he worked as a newspaper boy, and
supplemented this with another job:
turning gas street lamps on and off
along his newspaper route!
A salute to
America’s newspaperboys
from a former member of their ranks—Major General John B. Medaris, Commanding General, U.S. Army Ordnance
Missile Command
Help Strengthen America’s Peace Power
Buy U. S. Savings Bonds
“You’re a mighty important young
man. First, because you keep us sup-
plied with one of the most vital needs
of our day: news of the world. Second,
because you are one of America’s fu-
ture leaders. And thirdly because you
have helped “sell America” by selling
Savings Stamps and Bonds ever since
1941. Today thousands of carriers in-
vest in the future with Stamps and
Bonds.
“This is more important today than
ever. Every U. S. Savings Bond or
Stamp helps strengthen America’s
Peace Power, by providing money to
keep our country strong, advance sci-
ence and education, and keep our
1 economy healthy.
| “So—in honor of Newspaperboy
