Friendship
Two rural Johnson County
communities were visited and
judged by a team from the Ag-
ricultural Extension Service
Thursday.
The Friendship Community,
which is just getting its organi-
zation and work underway, was
toured for the first time.
In the afternoon, the judging
team, composed of John Fagan,
Mrs. Tom Joyce Cunningham,
and Ted Martin, toured the Bo-
no community.
On both tours, representatives
of each of the communities,
Chamber of Commerce, and Te-
xas Power and Light Co. (a co-
sponsor) accompanied the jud-
ges.
In the Friendship Community,
stops or drive-bys were made at
the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Ge-
orge Sartor, Mr. and Mrs. J. I.
McCaig, John Gordon, Mr. and
Mrs. S. H. Rosser, Mr. and Mrs.
A. F. Benner, Ross Conway, Mr.
and Mrs. J. T. Stansbury, Mr.
and Mrs. Ottis Duncan, Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon Stepp, Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Phillips, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Dunson, Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Halbert, G. Pipes, Mr.
and Mrs. Troy Bryant, Mr. and
Mrs. P. M. McElhaney, Mr. and

In the Bono Community vis-
its were made to the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace William-
son, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mc-
Laughlin, a drive-by at the home
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Jones Sr.,
and the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John Jones. The Bono Baptist
Church was judged. The tour
wound up at the Bono Commu-
nity Center, where a review of
the past year’s activities was
given and remarks made by the1
judges.
Ted Martin told those present
that a county will, not prosper
unless its rural communities are
