Auxiliary Head
Mrs. William Gumpert has
assumed her new duties as
president of the local Ladies
VFW Auxiliary.
At the time of her advance-
ment, Mrs Gumpert was serv-
ing as senior vice-president
of the auxiliary. She succeeds
Mrs. Charles Dickerman who
was president until she moved
to Gatesville recently.
Mrs. Frank Morrow is the
new senior vice-president, and
Mrs. A. S. Lockett has been
named junior vice-president.

Paso in 1958, Mrs. Gumpert
has been active in Auxiliary
Tigers To Meet Decatur Eagles
In EHS Stadium Friday Night
The Electra Tigers will meet
the Decatur Eagles at Tiger
Stadium Friday night for
their third home game of the
season.
Game time for the non-con-
ference contest is 8:00 p. m.
All Tiger fans are urged to
attend and see their team in
action.
In their first two home
games this year the Tigers
racked up one win and one
loss. They defeated Whites-
boro 18-0, and fell to Archer
City, 8-7. I
Last Friday night they tra-;
veled to Holliday where they
were defeated 20-0 before an
estimated crowd of 1,200 foot-
ball fans.
After a scoreless first half
for both teams, Jimmy Paut-
sky crossed the goal line in
the third quarter following a
31 yard run to give the Ea-
gles their first touchdown.
The try for extra points fail-
ed.
The second Eagle touch-
down came in the fourth quar-
ter. Although the two point
conversion try failed, Holliday
soon made a safety adding
two more points to their side
passed away during the past
year.
During the business session,
Miss Peggy Cunningham gave
the treasurers report and
Mrs. R. J. Bradley gave the
secretary’s report.

Mr. and Mrs. Rowe were
married 59 years on August
16. The late Rev. C. C, Davis
of Iowa Park, performed the
ceremony at the Sunshine Hill
school.
They were presented an
electric blanket for being the
oldest married couple pres-

Mr. and Mrs. Rowe are the
parents of six children: Ray-
mond of Olney; Mrs. James

Douglas Home
Damaged By
Small Fry
Two Electra youths were
released into the custody of
their parents and one was
taken to the home of his uncle
in Snyder following arrest for
maliciously damaging the in-
terior of the Wendell Douglas
home Saturday afternoon.
The youths 9, 10 and 11
years of age were reported to
have entered the
home Saturday afternoon.
The damage to the enterior
of the home was caused when
about 40 dozen eggs were
broken on the ceiling, walls,
furniture and a wall to wall
carpet. Also listed among the
damages was the destruction
of a typewriter and pouring
of ink on the carpets.
Following the escapade in
the home they were reported
to have gone to the garage
where they ripped open sev-
eral sacks of feed and scat-
tered their contents in the
garage.
The youths were taken to
Wichita Falls juvenile court
where they were released in
the custody of relatives with
their case pending.

Oral Vaccine
Immunes 90%
Of Residents
Approximately 90 percent
of Electra’s residents are im-
mune to Type I polio follow-
ing two days of oral innoccu-
lation conducted at Electra
Junior High School.
It was reported that over
SOO persons were recipients of
the vaccine saturated sugar
cubes during the second day
of administering the Type I
Sabin Oral Vaccine Sunday.
This raised the total num-
ber of innoculaced Electra re-
sidents to over 3800 persons
according to Dr. John G.
Thompson, local chairman.
A booth sponsored by the
Wichita General Hospital Stu-
dent Nurses was maintained
at the Texas Oklahoma Fair
this week in Iowa Park to
administer the vaccine for
the benefit of those unable to
take the vaccine during the
area campaign.

EHS Most Typical Boy And Girl
Don Jarvis and Jane Sachse,
Electra High School seniors,
were named Most Typical Boy
and Girl of the school in a
recent election held by the
student body.
Miss Sachse, the daughter golf, and a one year letter-
of Mrs. Elizabeth Sachse, is
a Tiger cheerleader, and a
member of the Girl’s Athletic
Association, Bengal Staff and
tennis team.

ing in the game, Eagle guard
Willard Conway intercepted
a Tiger pass and ran 28 yards
for the final Eagle tally. An
attempted kick for the extra
point failed.
Statistically, the Tigers
topped the Eagles by two
first downs, the Tigers having Women’s Major City league
12 and the Eagles, 10. In

Now Under Way
By Senior Class
Members of the Electra
High School senior class are
in the midst of their newspa-
per subscription sale this
week with only one week re-
maining of the two week cam-
paign.
The students are selling according to
subscriptions, both new and
Sr., W. C. Richardson, Jr., and rcnewals, to the Electra Star-
News.
Renewals will be added to
present subscriptions at their
expiration date. New sub-
scriptions will go into effect
at the close of the sale.
All profits derived from the
sale will bo used to promote
activities of the class.

Large Crowd
Attends Booster
Club Meeting
A large crowd was present
Monday evening at the Com-
munity Center for the weekly
meeting of the Electra Boost-
er Club.
The club president, Joe Jac-
obi, announced that the $400
whirlpool purchased by the
club for the Tiger club house
has been installed and is
ready for use. The whirlpool
is large enough for the use
of three persons at a time.
He also announced that the
club purchased four wool
blankets for the use of the
Tiger teams.
The progress of the Tiger
team was discussed by the
high school coaches, and
Coach Hamilton spoke con-
cerning the junior high game
with Bowie scheduled tonight.
Films taken of the Tiger-
Wildcat game last Friday
night were shown by Jacobi
who took the films of the
game.
The next meeting of the
club will be held at 8:00 p.
m. Monday, Oct; 1, at the
Community Center.

Course In Dallas
Ira Culwell, parts manager
at Eli Morgan and Company,
Inc., Electra Ford dealership,
attended a course in parts
merchMndising at the Ford
Motor Company Marketing
Institute in Dallas last week.
W. D. Neil, director of the
institute, said the three-day
program is designed to help
parts managers develop proper Work, the local Rebekah Lod-

vide better service to custo-
mers< Studies are based on
successful methods in use at
Ford and Lincoln-Mercury
dealerships throughout the
country.
More than 1,600 dealership
personnel have attended cou-

Rev. Young Tucker
To Hold Kamay
Baptist Revival
Rev. Young Tucker, a na-
tive of Wichita Falls, will be
the evangelist to hold revival
services at First Baptist
Church, Kamay, Sept. 30, Oct.
7 with two services daily. The
time has been set for 7:00 a.
m and 8:00 p. m.
Rev Tucker is widely
known in this area of Texas
and Oklahoma. He served as
pastor of Rock Crossing Bap-
tist Church for two years and
while under his leadership the
members were tripled. He
held pastorates at Mankins
and Lesley. He served as as-
sociate pastor at First Bap-
tist Church, Vernon, during
Dr E. S. James ministry. He
was associate pastor of First
Baptist, Lubbock, with Dr.
J Ralph Grant. Tucker was
pastor of Faith Baptist, Wich-
ita Falls for two and one half
years and the Sunday School

In Final
Building Stages
Finishing touches are being
added to the Dinsmore Ele-
mentary School following a
recent general inspection of
the building by the school
board, announced Supt, W.
L. Hudson this week.
Following completion of
these details a similar inspec-
tion will foe held before the
building can be accepted of-
ficially. The modem one-
