Ladies Auxiliary
Meeting Is Held
The Ladies VFW Auxiliary
to Gold Star Post 4145 met
September 20 at the hall on
East Cleveland with the presi-
dent, Mrs. William Gumpert,
presiding.
Mrs. W. L. Goulding, chap-
lain, opened the meeting with
prayer. The business session
was conducted by the presi-
dent.
Mrs. A. S. Lockett was e-
lected junior vice president
of the auxiliary. An interest-
ing school of instructions was
given by Mrs. Lockett.
A report was given on the
bake sale recently held by
the auxiliary members. The
president expressed her tha-
nks and appreciation to each
member who participated.
The District 15 meeting is
to be held October 27 and 28
at Vernon, it was announced,
and delegates and alternates
elected. The delegates are
to the district meeting were
Mrs. Ethel Brown, Mrs. Mag-
gie Conway, Mrs. Dona Mc-
Cully, Mrs. Lillian Morrow,
and Mrs. Edola Parker.
Refreshments were served
to 19 members following the
meeting.
The next meeting of the
group will be held on Thurs-
day evening, October 4.

Friday evening, September 14,
at 7:00 p. m. of the wedding
of Miss Jeanetta Ann Wiggins
of Electra and Bobby Ray
Walker.
For her wedding the bride
chose a blue wool sheath dress
worn with whitee accessories.
She carried a bridal bouquet
of red roses atop a white Bi-
ble.
Mrs. Ruth Chowning of
Electra served her daughter
as matron of honor. Best man
was the father of the groom.
A short reception was held
in the home following the
ceremony.
The former Miss Wiggins
attended Electra schools and
was a student in Iowa Park
High School at the time of
her marriage. Walker is a
civilian employe at Sheppard
Air Force Base

ard. Miss Betty Stewart pre-
sided at the register.
Following a wedding trip to
points of interest in East Tex-
as, the couple has established
residence in Santa Ana, Cali-
fornia.
The bride is a 1960 gradu-
ate of Electra High School
where she was active in the
Horizon Club and the Future
Nurses of America chapter.
She was a three year member
of the EHS Band. Prior to
coming to Electra she attend-
ed elementary school in El
Dorado, Kansas.
Lasseter is a 1960 graduate
of Burkburnett High School
where he was a membei’ of
the Bulldog football team two
years. He was a member of
the Marine Reserve two years,
and has been on active duty
with the Marines for the past
seventeen months. He is
stationed at Santa Ana, Cal-
ifornia.
The home of the groom’s
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Melvin Lasseter, 500
North Waggoner, in Electra,
was the scene of the rehear-
sal party Saturday evening.
Out of town guests attend-
ing the wedding were Mr. and
Mrs. A. K. Lasseter, Miss Pat-
sy Lasseter, Miss Sandra
Painter, and Mr. and Mrs. V.

Pledge Vows In Nazarene Church Ceremony
In an impressive ceremony
conducted Sunday afternoon,
September 16, in the Church
of the Nazarene, Miss Janet
Marie Payne of Electra, be-
came the bride of Richard
Wayne Lasseter of Burkbur-
nett.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M.
Payne, 90S North Wilbarger,
and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Lasseter,
606 East Third in Burkbur-
nett.
Officiant for the 2:00 p. m.
ceremony was the Rev. W. L.
Prichard, pastor. The nup-
tial background consisted of
two pair of candelabra en-
twined with garlands of lem-
on leaf studded with white
pom pom mums. White sat-

Traditional wedding music
was provided by Mrs. J. L.
Sain and Miss Vonda Curtis,
both of Electra.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a white
organza street-length dress de-
signed with a bouffant skirt,
and a white lace jacket fea-
turing three quarter-length
sleeves. Her white shoulder-
length veil of bridal illusion
was attached to a white head-
band. She carried a crescent
arrangement of white rose
buds, blue feathered carna-
tions, white satin leaves, and
white satin ribbon streamers
atop a white satin Bible.
Maid of honor was Miss
Thresia Morrison of Electra.
She wore a white brocade
street-length dress and a cres-
con corsage of white feathered
carnations.
Gary Stubblefield of Ver-
non served his uncle as best

Program On Asia
“The Rim of Asia” was the
program presented by Mrs. members of
Carl Davis, program chair-
man, assisted by Aimes C. A.
Grisham and J. T. Stephens,
when members of the Sun-
shine Mann Circle of the
Methodist Woman’s Society
of Christian Service met Mon-
day in the home of Mrs. Gris-
ham.

Club Recent Program
Theiss L. Jones, minister
of music of the First Baptist
Church, was the guest speak-
er when members of the Art-
cele Study Club met recently
in the home of Mrs. H. E.
King.
“Music, Secular and Sa-
cred” was the subject of the
discussion by Jones. He gave
pertinent historical facts and
comparisons of each type of
music.
Following a discussion of
music of various eras, Jones
listed four factors in distin-
guishing the two types. They
arc quality, rhythm, text and
prior association.
Mrs. S. C Massengill pre-
sided over the business ses-
sion. The club collect was
read in unison and each mem-
ber answered roll call with a
chosen subject The minutes
of the previous meeting were
read and approved.
The speaker was introduced
by Mrs. J. F. Warren. Mrs.
J. H. Power presented him
with a gift of appreciation for
the interestin'? program.
Refreshment plates were
served following the meeting

Executive Meeting
An executive meeting of the
Dinsmore Elementary School
Parent Teacher Association
was held Wednesday, Septem-
ber 19, in the home of Mrs.
Leon McBroom, president.
Mrs. McBroom presided
and introduced Mrs. W. C.
Cissell, second vice president
Mrs. Cissell addressed the
new room mothers for the
year giving instructions as to
their duties.
A third vice president, Airs. Fugitt, both of Electra.
Jack D. Henderson, was c-
lectod to fill a vacancy, and
Airs. Harold Tiffin was named
historian. Mrs. Leonard Burt
was appointed education for
famiy living chairman.
Plans for the coming year
were discussed. A discussion
was held concerning the Hal-
loween Carnival to be given
at the, school.
Announcement was made by
the president that the Dis-
trict 13 Workshop was sche-
duled for September 21. Alem-
bers of the Bi-County Coun-
cil will meet October 3 in
the Dinsmore Cafetorium if
it is completed.
