be sure that every
dollar you put aside

pay you $1.93 later
on? It can be done,
and here’s an ex-
ample:
Buy a $100 Savings
_ _ Bond (for $75) each
month for 17 years and 9 months,
(This is exactly ten years longer than
the official maturity period for Bonds,
and means extra interest earnings.) At
the end of that time, you can cash, in
a Bond every month for the next 17
years and 9 months, and each one of
them will pay you $145.
This works out to $1.93 for every $1.00
you put in Bonds—and please note—
the $75 figure is only an example. You
can put as little or as much as you like
into thisr etirement plan. See the chart.

Seasonal Light
Rates Approved
By Council
The approval to purchase e-
quipment for repairs and a
seasonal heating rate was the
main agenda of business Tues-
day evening when the City
Council met for their regular
session with all commissioners
present.
An approval was made for
the purchase of water and
sewer material for improve-
ments in the Woodruff Hei-
ghts, Hillcrest and Matthews
additions and on Dunbar, E-
lectra and Railroad avenues.
An adoption of a seasonal
heating rate was approved and
is being drawn up by city at-
torney John McKelvey. This
special rate will be for the
convenience of those who use
electricity for heating.
Money was also set aside
for the purchase of wire, polos
and other equipment to be
used in the electrical depart-
ment, and the purchase of 100
tons of blacktopping.
Other business approved by
the council was that no one
will be employed by the city
after he reaches his 65 birth-
day and present employes will
not be eligible for employment
after they reach 65, begin-
ning Jan. 1. 1963.
A motion was made to em-
ploy a lineman.
Concluding the session <an
approval was made to allow
$1,000 for improvements and
redecorating the swimming
pool.
PTA Program
Parley Held
In Decatur
The fall Program Parley of
District 13 Parent-Teacher As-
sociation was held in Decatur
Friday with emphasis on cit-
izenship. Two guests gave
separate talks on American-
ism and citizenship.
After a welcome by Deca-
tur elementary school princi-
pal, C. C. Rann, Mrs. M. K.
Anthony, Wichita Falls High
School teacher, spoke to the
assemblage stating that people
of the U. S. are too often luke
warm in citizenship and need
to recognize roles as Ameri-
can citizens even more than
ever before.
She pointed out that along
with the riches, blessings and
comforts enjoyed by U. S.
citizens, duties and respon-
sibilities must not be shirked.
In the fight against commun-
ism, she said, the public sho-
uld study and understand the
opponent, have a good know-
ledge of our country’s history
and help combat apathy and
complacency.
At the conclusion of her
talk she was given a standing
ovation.
District president, Mrs. Red
Lembert presided at the all-
day meeting of the PTA.
Keith Swim, Superintendent
of Iowa Park Schools and dis-
trict citizenship chairman,
was in charge of the program.
Mrs. W. T. Zimmerman,
Wichita-Archer PTA presi-
dent, directed members of
her unit in a skit entitled,
'“The Three R’s of Citizenship
— Rights, Responsibilities, and
Relationships.”
Reconvening 'after lunch,
the group heard a talk 6y
Royce Kimberlain, Jr., Iowa
Park High School Senior.
Kimberlain attended a sem-
inar sponsored by the Farm
Bureau on Americanism the
past summer. He said that
communism is pressing hard
on this country and citizens
must do all possible to stop
the movement in order to
preserve the freedom our fore
fathers fought so hard to gain
and keep.
Members of the Wichita
Falls PTA City Council pre-
sented a skit depicting the
correct and incorrect way to
conduct a PTA meeting. Swim
directed a panel discussion
with audience participation on
various questions concerning
citizenship.
The District Board met t\-
ter the regular session of the
main PTA body. Mrs. D. O.
James of Iowa Park, state
vice president of PTA, outlin-
ed duties of each district of-
ficer and chairman. Mrs. J.
W. Bullock of Newcastle and
Mrs. James T. Spray, Jr., of
Wichita Falls were appointed
to fill two vacancies on the
board.
A meeting will be held in
January to plan the PTA
spring conference which will
he held in Quanah.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Hay-
es and Rickey Allen and Tom-
my Tindall attended the Tex-
as Tech football game in Lub-
bock Saturday and visited
