Well, mothers have seen
a lot of this, and they have
mostly endured it. I know
my mother has seen this,
too, and so to my mother

Mother’s Day Reflections

Mother’s Day is a day
when all mothers should be
acknowledged. Mothers are
wonderful; they try to keep
you healthy, despite your
endless desire for junk food.
She tries to show you man-
ners even though most
aren’t ever used. She tries
to teach you good habits
that very seldom work. I say
this collectively, not every
case follows this pattern.
When you are older you
realize this and think back
to a time when you showed
your appreciation for her
effort. That was probably
when you were about three.
Remember when you were
going to clean the yard, but ■
it was so big you got tired
before you finished. And
the time when you were
going to fix breakfast and
just succeeded in making a
big mess that she had to

for this year is Kenneth
Jones. Kenneth is the 19
year old son of Jessie Mae
Jones. His birthday is April
6.
Kenneth’s favorite quote
is “When your up your up,
when your down get down.’’
Some of his favorites
included the color blue, the
car 280 ZX, and the movie
“Which Way Is Up.’’
Kenneth’s best memory is
being able to participate in
sports and his worst
memory is not being able to
participate in sports and
getting put in the hospital.
Kenneth was voted
“Most Handsome’’ his
Junior year and he says that
his favorite activity is play-
ing with his little brother,
Michael Paul.

the UIL meet last Monday,
April 27, at Munday. They
took third place in the meet
with a 50 point team total.
In oral reading, Polly
Brinson placed second and
0. D. Hutchinson placed
third. Tim Moore took first
place in ready writing. The
picture memory team con-
sisting of Jill Bratton, Tavia
Crumpler, Chris Ferguson,
Nancy Hernandez, Jody
Taylor, and alternate,
Angie Goff, also took first
place. In 5th and 6th oral
reading, with Angie Brin-
son, Leah Thompson, and
Jody Taylor competing,

Time is approaching for
the student body of Paducah
High School to elect new
student council officers. The
candidates are as follows:
Parliamentarian, Anna
Brothers, David Seigler;
Corresponding Secretary,
Nancy Thompson; Record-
ing Secretary, Paula Wed-
dle; Treasurer, June Big-
ham; Reporter, Lisa High-
tower, Dinah Brothers;
Vice-President, Brent
Havins, Charlie Cleveland;
President, Jimmy Hutchin-
son.
There may be other can-
didates added to the list but
these had filed by press
time. The skits will be held
May 18, 2nd period. The
election will be May 22, 3rd

The Paducah Dragon Pep
Squad held an organizing
meeting last Tuesday. Offi-
cers for next years squad
