TP&W control burn
at Ray Roberts Lake
A handful of grass fires kept area firefighters busy on Monday.
None of the fires caused any injuries or major damage, according to
Jody Gonzalez, Denton County emergency management director.
Fires were reported in Denton just west of Interstate 35W in Argyle
and at the intersection of Amyx Road and Amyx Hill Road in Ponder.
A large amount of black smoke could be seen near Ray Roberts
Lake, but Gonzalez said that was due to a controlled burn on the north
side of the lake and that Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials
were managing the burn.
Warmer and drier air has moved into North Texas, with Monday’s
high at Denton Enterprise Airport reaching 76 degrees.

IN THE PAST, the Foundation has funded everything from
a wind turbine to the high school's Spark Science Learning
Center. Our talented educators surprise us every year
with new ways to educate our children, like using motion
sensors and interactive white boards, video projectors,
document cameras, and rolling mobile laptop labs. Fine
arts programs have benefitted from the Foundation's
generous donors as well, who have paid for a Grand
piano, percussion instruments, a sculpture garden and an
outdoor learning center.
IN ADDITION TO PUTTING TOOLS in the hands of
talented teachers, the Foundation also helps them become
better educators. New initiatives are supporting enrichment
opportunities and post-baccalaureate degrees for our
educators.

T C\ YEARS
I Uago
a group of parents, business owners and
supporters of public education felt a need
to energize the community to support our
schools. Their efforts culminated in the
formation of Sanger Education Foundation,
which was officially organized in October of
2005. In the 10 years since, the foundation
has raised over $1.6 million to enrich the
lives of students in Sanger ISD.
FROM THE BEGINNING, the vision of
the Foundation was to foster community
investment in Sanger's children and educators.
That same vision remains paramount today.
Along with our goals of creating a perpetual
source of funding, building strong community
support, and encouraging and recognizing
creative educators, this vision has resulted in
over $626,000.00 in grants and awards, all
made possible by the Foundation's generous
supporters.
AND YET THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO
ACHIEVE. Last year the foundation received
over $155,000.00 in district and instructional
grant applications. This spring more than
$80,000.00 in new grants will be ’U
awarded. k A

HOW IS THIS ALL POSSIBLE?
IT'S POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF YOU: Your annual
giving; your attendance at the annual gala; your
remembrance of loved ones through memorials. The Sanger
Education Foundation is also home to the 20 permanent
Endowment funds that you have established, each of which
support our students and educators in different ways.
These endowments, along with the Foundation's General
Endowment Fund, now total over $670,000 and will one
day form the backbone of a perpetual source of funding for
initiatives. The foundation also has the capacity to accept
legacy and planned gifts through Last Wills, life insurance
policies and other estate planning tools.
THIS IS A SPECIAL YEAR TO CELEBRATE and support
the foundation. There is no better way to let our teachers
know that we support them, and tell our students that we
care about them. Our seven amazing campuses now
educate over 2600 students who will eventually graduate
into a complex adult world. Sanger Education Foundation,
with your help, is doing what it can to make sure those
students are prepared for the challenges ahead.
There are many ways to contribute. Donate your time
and talent by serving on one of 5 very active committees.
Give generously to our General Endowment or a specific
program you value. Make a legacy gift. It's not the
size of the gift that matters. It's that every gift
matters.
