Charles L. Harris
was born on June 19, 1922 to Roy
and Mattie Mae McAfee in Krum,
Texas. He is preceded in death by his
beloved son, Michael (Mike) at age
21. Those 21 years he and Tillie recall
as the best years of their lives. He is
also preceded in death by his parents
and siblings, George, Beatrice, Ray,
Clyde, and Roy McAfee.
The highlight of Barney’s very
successful life is his wife Tillie. He
courted Tillie from the time she was
June 19,1922 - Januaiy22,2014

Bolivar Masonic Lodge had a very, very successful fund
raiser a couple of weeks back. Funds are used for local

Christopher is preceded in death by his grandmother,
Suzanna Banda Zavala.
Christopher had a heart of gold, was a loving person,
and had a passion for basketball, tattoos, family and friends.
He was loved by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a Benefit Account has been set up
in the name of Marina Lozano at First State Bank, 400 W.
Oak, Denton, Texas 76201.
Mr. Harris was born in Plum Bayou, Arkansas on Sep-
tember 30, 1952 to Will and Allie Jo (Ward) Harris and he
passed away on January 26, 2014 in Sanger, Texas at the
age of 61.
He married Patricia Louise Roberts on October 25,
1972 in Nashville TN. He was a member of the National
Arborist-Chapter of Texas. He was
a supervisor with ABC Tree Expert
Services in Houston, Texas and
had been contracted through them
for the City of Denton.
He is survived by his wife, Pat
of Sanger; 5 daughters, Moniqua
Scruggs of Maudraught, KY, Cla-
rissa Koontz of Labrobe, PA, Pa-
tricia Carrier of Jacksonville, FL,
Theresa Hill and Tami Harris both
of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Charles
L. Harris II of Nashville, Tennes-
see and Gordon Neal Mathis of Georgetown, TX; three
sisters, Catherine Swindle and Gail Young both of Carl-
isle, AR, and Nancy Meredith of Waco, TX; two brothers,
Buddy Harris of Syracuse, NY and Jerry Harris of Hickory
Plains, AR; 34 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held at Coker Funeral Home on Tues-
day, January 28, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Online

B.R. (Barney) McAfee went home to be with the Lord
on the 22nd of January 2014. Barney, or “Mac,” as most
of his loved ones and friends called him, was known to be
one of the happiest and most optimistic individuals. Barney 8 pm on Wednesday, January 29,
2014 at DeBerry Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be on Thurs-
day, January 30, 2014 at Immacu- 1 ,
late Conception Catholic Church
at 10 am.
Christopher is survived by his
wife, Marina Lozano; sons Major
and Christopher Jr.; daughters Bel-
la, Sophia, and Leah; mother Mary
Banda Lozano and father, John
Lozano, Jr.; brothers Andrew Ray
Lozano and Manual Lee Gastelum; grandparents, John and
an early teenager until he came home to marry her before Yolanda Lozano and P.C. Banda; great grandmother Mag-
shipping out during World War II.
After high school, Barney and other Sanger friends
went to San Diego, California, to work in the aircraft in-
dustry and go to college. This was cut short by World War
II when he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps
where he served as a flight engineer on B-24’s.
After World War II, Barney was engaged in numerous
entrepreneurial endeavors, including retail, trucking, farm-
ing, and other businesses. He is best remembered for orga-
nizing and building McAfee Butane Company, and then
later his large real estate developments with his longtime
friend Gerald Stockard. He was always known for making
any project undertaken successful and being able to build
anything. His many talents just couldn’t be measured.
With always an adventurous spirit, Barney and Tillie
spent much of their time traveling and experiencing the
many wonders of the world.
Barney is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Till-
ie, a nephew, Jimmy Smith and wife Gwen, brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law, Spencer and Kathi Hicks, Donald and
Linda Masten, and several nieces and nephews.
Barney will be missed by not only his family but the
many friends that he made during this life’s journey.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 25,
2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bolivar Baptist Church with Rev.
Dickie Amyx officiating. Burial followed at Roselawn Me-
morial Park.
