Workers perch at the top of a 50-foot section of the new Rise Broadband tower
being constructed on the downtown Leonard square. The tower will replace
the downtown communications tower currently located behind the old Rhino
Communications office on Fannin Street. Rise and the City of Leonard reached an
agreement for the new tower to move onto the square, and it will also house the fire
siren. The old light pole that currently holds that siren will be taken down.

Their daughter and family

“There is simply no end

I haven't figured out if
time seems to pass faster
because I’m older or if time
really does move faster.
The reason may be that we
have so many events that
happen and we are always
busy going from one place
to another.
A lot has happened in
the City. Finances in the
City were close, but we
made it through the spring
and summer. Michael Pye
has been named as the new
Public Works Director.
Michael has been employed
by the City for twenty-
five years and is familiar

and facilities. He and all
the City employees made
sure the Annual Picnic ran
smoothly.
We are fortunate to have
people who donate their
time and products to the
City. Thank you to Vicki
and Andy McAngus of
Noble Resources. For many
years they have donated
their time and chemicals to
spray the City Park so bugs
and mosquitoes won't attack
the picnic goers. I also
want to thank Mike McCoy
and his employees for
donating the labor to build
a handicap ramp which now
makes the City Council

On Monday, while
rummaging through the interior
of the home, Lara found
appropriate comfort in some
wall art in one of the rooms that
states simply, “There is always,
always, always something to be
thankful for.”
“We are truly blessed,” she

Also thank you to Leonard

Billy Grimes for donating
materials for the ramp.
Speaking of busy
times, the street in front
of my house is once again
busy with parents driving
children to school. There
are also new drivers as
teens got drivers licenses
during the summer. I
challenge all of us to drive
carefully and watch out for
the students. And remember,

COME ON IN,
Lara did report that one of
their dogs was trapped in a back
bedroom, and got mild smoke
inhalation, but that the fire did
not reach where she was.
In the days since then,
there have been overwhelming
moments, mixed in with the
moments of thankfulness and
blessedness.
“We are starting to see
the task before us and are so
grateful to be walking this path
with so many prayer warriors
and professionals.”
She went on to thank
