to the state jail felony offense of
possession of a penalty group 1

of 2 years incarceration in the Texas
Department of Criminal Justice
- State Jail Division, assessed a
$1,000 fine, $314 court costs and
$180 restitution. After sentencing
Smith, the court suspended his
sentence and placed him on
community supervision for a period
of 5 years. Smith was referred to
the Fannin County Drug Court
program of intense but personalized
supervision.
Alisha Renee Starkey, 42,
of Bonham - pleaded guilty to
the state jail felony offense of
possession of a penalty group 1
controlled substance weighing
less than 1 gram. Starkey was
convicted and sentenced to a term
of 2 years incarceration in the
Texas Department of Criminal
Justice - State Jail Division, and
assessed $324 court costs and
$180 restitution. After sentencing
Starkey, the court suspended
her sentence and placed her on

of 5 years. Starkey was referred

placed on Deferred Adjudication
Community Supervision for a

followed in Leonard Cemetery.
Family visitation was Friday, May
6, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8:00 P.M.
at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow
Funeral Chapel at Leonard.
Patsy was born May 1, 1934
in the Savage Community near
Leonard. Her parents were Virgil
Solomon and Dorothy Marsalete
Cozby McBroom. She married
Jimmy Roy James on Oct. 26,
1951, in Bonham. She worked
as a photo technician and was
a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Leonard, as
well as a founding member of the
Leonard Emergency Aid Program.
She passed away at her residence
on Thursday, May 5, 2016.
She is survived by her
daughter, Pam Savage Sagely of
Leonard; sons and daughters-in-
law, Glenn and Terry James of
Leonard and Gerald and Denise
James of Fort Worth; brother and
sister-in-law, David and Redonna
McBroom of Leonard; five
p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow
Funeral Chapel in Leonard.
Pallbearers were Ray Steele, Gary
Jones, Raymond Owen, Ronnie
Robinson, Craig Flanagan, Glenn
Murphy and Nathan Bell.
Lucy was born Feb. 3, 1931
in Hunt County, the daughter of
John Pless and Minnie Mae Darst
Freeman. She was a member of
the Valley Creek Baptist Church
and worked as a seamstress. She
married David Grady Owen on
Dec. 24, 1955 in Durant, Okla. She
passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016
at her residence.
She is survived by her sons
and daughters-in-law, Richard
and Misty Owen of Trenton and
Raymond and Michelle Owen
of Honey Grove; sister, Lois
Fay Thomas of Savoy; brother
and sister-in-law, Wilburn and
Diane Freeman of Sherman; four
grandchildren, Clayton Owen,
Kathleen Kopf, Krista Garrison
and Kasey Owen; four great-
grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents and
her husband, she was preceded in
death by her brothers and sisters,
Rendell Freeman, Dan Freeman,
J.P. Freeman, Robert Lee Freeman,
Lanie Mae Freeman, Erleen
Freeman, Rasa Freeman and
Dessie Arine Freeman; and by a
granddaughter, Emmaleigh Owen.

Mary Ann was born March
1, 1925 in the Valley Creek near
Leonard. Her parents were Charlie
Jones and Leia Bell Dorsett Jones.
She was a graduate of East Texas
State Teacher's College and taught
school for 15 or more years. She
manned Frank Alfred Strickland on
Feb. 4, 1950 in Dallas. She was a
member of the National Education
Association, the Red Hat Society and
was very active in the Democratic
Party. She passed away at her
residence on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
She is survived by her son and
daughter, David Alan Strickland and
Karen Ann Strickland.
In addition to her parents and
her husband, she was preceded
in death by her two sisters and a
brother, Fern Gilliam, Maxine Jones
and Charles David Jones.
