Millennium Sign
Pictured is a placard placed on the Millennium
Clock located on the downtown square. The
placard was found in three pieces with a chunk
of the placard missing. There is not enough of
the placard in hand to give the original message.
Anyone with information of the wordage on the
sign is asked to visit City Hall to help solve this
mystery. The city would like to have it made again
and replaced on the clock.

The local election is over
and I am excited about the good
turn-out of voters. Thanks to
those who stepped up to run for
public office.
This is my last Mayor's
article. I wish to gratefully thank
Betsy Blevins for allowing me
the opportunity to have a weekly
article. I did my best to report to
the citizens what was going on in
FREE Biblical counseling center
24-hour hotline: 903-449-1408
the city. Sometimes the articles
were positive and sometimes
negative. I wanted to report what
had gone on in the past and what
was happening weekly. Some
liked the articles, and others
didn't; and that's life. We all have
opinions on how to run the city.
My goals were to be open,
to change and get the city out
of debt, and to make it a better
place to live. Thanks to the
citizens for all the support during
the four years I was in office.
Thanks to the City Council,
actually two different Councils,
during this time and four City
Administrators.
It was a wild ride and I
learned more about politics. It's
a lose/win situation. You lose
friends and make enemies. It was
a needed experience and one that
will help in the future.
Now I can sleep a little
later and don't have to attend
meetings. I also hope my attitude
will mprove. I understand now
why pastors shouldn't be in
politics.
Thanks for the experience.

I wish to thank everyone who supported me during the city council
election, and congratulate the winners. My job takes me too many small
towns similar in size of Leonard throughout northeast Texas and southeast
Oklahoma meeting many people, which each time I realize that we who live
in Leonard need to
recognize that we do have
a fantastic community
on all levels. As with any
form of government, there
will be challenges, but first
we must come together
on the good and common
ground, then challenges
will be much easier to
