Committee and Lundgren, the
executive secretary of the
Rolling Plains Cotton Grow
ers.
Mrs. Ekdahl and Mrs. Lund
gren and Brant, age 5, spent
the time sight seeing.
The group made the trip by
plane. They left Friday, Feb.

Mirelez of Aschaffenburg,
Germany and their children.
Little Joe and Jackie, have
been visiting in Stamford with
her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Lopez while Mrs. Lopez was
hospitalized in Abilene.
They will be returning next
week toGermany where Mire-
lez wil 1 be retiring in 9 months.

in celebration of his 86 birth
day.

of Ericksdahl, Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Corbitt
of Amarillo were weekend
house guests here of her
mother, Mrs. Adolph Olson,
during the President’s Day
holiday. Mrs. Corbitt, the
former Greta Olson, teaches
in the Amarillo public school
system Corbitt is retired from
the U.S. Postal Service.
Joining the family Sunday
were Mrs. Olsons’ son, Sheri-
dan Olson and members of his
family.
Mrs. Walter Heller spent a
recent business-pleasure
weekend visit in the Wichita
Falls home of her daughter

before his birthday. The birth-
day offering by children and
adults is a tradition at Bethel.

A highlight of this week's
activities in Ericksdahl is the
Scandinavian Smorgasbord
which will be held Friday night
of thia week at Bethel Lu-
theran Church in its spacious
basement brightly decorated
in old Swedish style.
There will be four serving
times: 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.,
7:15 p.m.. and 8:15 p.m.
A feature of a smorgasbord
is the liberty to fill ones piste
a second or more tunes.
Spearheading the event is
the Bethel Business Women's
Willing Workers, with the co-
operation of the two other
women’s organizations, the
men, the youth and the chil-
dren of Bethel.

Wichita Falls Saturday attend-
ing a fat stock show at which
Michael’s steer won fourth
place and on which he made a
premium sale. The sale was
made Monday.
In Dallas for the January 22
23 meeting of the Farm Bu-
reau Leadership Conference
were Mr. and Mrs. Darrell
Richards and Don Heller of
die Jones County Farm Bu-
reau.
Going to Dallas on Satur-
day, Jan. 20, the Richards’
visited his aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. George Hebert, their
landlady, Mrs. George Smith,
formerly of Stamford, Mrs.
Smith's daughter, Bobbie Lou
Burdick of Richardson and
were the Saturday overnight
guests of his cousin and his
family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Rankin, Ashley and Kendall,
also of Richardson.
Sunday they visited and
were the overnight guests in
the Garland home of his sis-
ter, Mrs. Don Burton and
where they were joined by
Mrs. Burton’s son and family,
Mr. and Mrs. David Burton
and Andrew of Dallas and her
daughter Suzanne and son in
law, Mr. and Mrs. Danny
Davis of Mesquite.
Weekend visitors in the
Stamford home of Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Ekcnstam were their
daughter Grace and son in law,
Mr. and Mrs. Murry Stasny of
Angleton, their son and fam
ily, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ekcn-
stam and daughter, Karla of
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and
the exchange student, Alex-
ander Basilcwsky of Lund,
Sweden, now making his
home with the Ekenstams and
Mrs. Stasny’s son, Vance
Thompson and his fiancee,
Nicole Holley, both of Lub
bock.
Thompson and Miss Hol-
ley, Texas Tech students, also
visited in the Avoca home of
his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
O.K. Thompson.
The Ekenstams’ daughter
Margaret and son in law, Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Vaughan of
Stamford were hosts Satur-
day night for a family meal
with all the above mentioned
as guests except Carl Ekcn-
stam, who is at Teakwood
Manor and where he was vis-
ited by the family.
Sunday the entire group
were dinner and coffee guests
in the Ekenstam home, includ-
ing the Vaughans.
Several of the visitors, all of
whom returned home Mon-
day, attended services Sun-
day at Bethel Lutheran
Church, among them the Fred
Ekenstams and their guests
from Sweden. Alexander, who
is of Russian and Polish ex-
traction on his father’s side,
arrived in the states last Au-
gust and attends high school
as a sophomore as dries Karla.
Alexander, whose mother is
Swedish, says he likes it here.
The young student, who
speaks fluent English, says he
will return to Sweden on June
15.
The tuL meal, held every
two years has been a part of
Bethel since 1962 during
Bethel* s existence of 84 years.
Lenten sen:—• at Bethel
Lutheran Church will begin
Ash Wednesday, February 28
at 7 p.m. with the Rev Stan
Leaf, pastor, conducting the
service.
Lenten services each
Wednesday at 7 p m will
continue throughout the
Lenten season.
The Luther League social
will be held Wednesday,
February 28 in the church
basement, immediately fol-
lowing the Lenten service.
Hosting the social will be Mr
and Mrs Lee Roy Nauert and
Bertha Nauert.
