A fake electric service man
has been reported operating
in Mt. Pleaaant in recent
weeks. A small amount of
money was taken from one
of the homes which he visit-
ed. I
The man described by one
of his victims as a "big, large
white Man” tells his intended
victims that he has come to
check their electric service.
If allowed to enter the home
he usually turns on two or
three lights and then takes
the victim outside to the meter
box and asks them to remain
there and listen for a noise
while he re-enters the house
to supposedly check something
else. ,
While in
searches for
valuables that he might con-
ceal on his person and leaves
in most cases without arous-
ing suspicion.
Noijle Thomason, local
Southwestern Electric Power
Company manager, points out
that their service men will
always be in a company truck
and anyone in any other type
of vehicle does not represent
their company.
