visited relatives in Monticello on
Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Smith re-
turned home in Lancaster Sunday
and .Mrs. Eula Smith returned
home with them for a week’s vis-
it.
Mrs. Edna Smith returned home
in Winfield Sunday after visiting
with her daughter at Mineral Wells
for two weeks.
Mrs. Lucy Riddle and Mrs. Tay-
lor of Mt. Pleasant visited Mrs.
Hattie Reed Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Les Balf of Min-
eral Wells visited Mrs. Edna Smith
this week end.
Jim Brock and Pat Brock of Mt.
Pleasant made a business trip to
Dallas Monday.
Jessie Shumate of Winfield will
begin hauling milk June first for
Carnation Milk Company to Sul-
phur Springs.
Since the Borden Milk Company
is folding up, Mrs. Lessie Booth,
a Winfield citizen who has been
an employe of Borden’s for the
past eleven years, is unemployed.
Ed Kirby, 65, was buried Sun-
day afternoon in the Winfield
cemetery. Mr. Kirby was a well
known farmer and had reared a
large family near Winfield. His
untimely death was a shock to his
friends and relatives as his illness
was of very short duration.
Mrs. Jodie Broach is visiting
relatives in Louisiana since last
Monday.
Miss Ruby Brown of Tyler spent
the week end with Miss Effatha
Broach in Winfield.
Mrs. Dee Hale of El Paso has
moved to an apartment with Mrs.
Bell Lawrence in Winfield.
Rocky Holmes, a student in E.

Saturday with Kenneth Morris
and family. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Morris are the proud parents of a
new baby boy born in Dallas.
Mrs. Lee Long end children are
visiting her sister, Mrs. Cecil
Weatherford, this week. Mr. Long
is working with Cecil at Kilgore.
Robbie Davis of Waco is visit-
ing home folk this week. Robbie
will speak at the mid-week prayer
service here this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jaggers of
Beaumont spent the week end at
home.
Mrs. Cecil King is attending the
bedside of her mother, Mrs. Coop-
er, in Texarkana this week.
Mrs. Myrtle Draper and son and
Mrs. Lucille Draper and daughter,
Carol, of Beaumont spent the
week end with relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Henderson
of Kentucky are visiting his uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. S. R.
Carby.
Mrs. Syble Draper has been vis-
iting her children at Winnsboro
for several days. She had the mis-
fortune of falling and fracturing
two ribs.
Remember Sunday, June 5, is
Memorial Day here.
The Sunbeam band meets ev-
ery Tuesday afternoon from 4 un-
til 5 p. m. with Mrs. Billy Eeds in
charge. All children are invited
to attend.
