of people.
In the book of Isaiah, as 1 read
v my morning devotional, the Lord
v. spoke to the Israelites and said,
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed
you; I have called you by name,
you are mine." I thought to myself,
bow could they be afraid when God
was with them all the way? He did
many miracles that they saw with
their own eyes. I know I would
have been faithful to him. But
would 1?
God still promises through his
word, that be has our names written
in his hand, how can we be afraid?
He has given us one of the most
beautiful nations in the world, with
all the things we need to have a
good life.
We, as a church, sent things to
Kosovo at Christmas. What they
told us to send was soap, bathcloth,
toothbrush, etc. We would also
Preheat oven to 350’. In a large
bowl, mix together with a pastry
cutter, the four, baking soda, bak-
ing powder, Crisco, and sugar until
they are the consistency of peas.
Mix in a separate bowl, the sour
cream and egg yolks. Add the sour
mixture to the flour mixture. Mix
until it forms a soft pie dough. Di-
vide dough in half. Tear small
pieces of dough from one half and
pat gently to form a bottom crust in
a medium size cookie sheet
Place the two cans of pie filling
on the layer of dough. Add a little
flour to the remaining dough and
roll it out on wax paper, cutting it
into long 1/2 inch strips. Use the
strips to form a lattice on the pie
filling. Sprinkle a little sugar on top
of lattice and bake at 35W for about
30 to 40 minutes or until golden
brown.

I'm not sure whether it is the red
color symbolizing Valentine's Day
or the supposedly tree cutting inci-
dent involving George Washington,
but the month of February always
makes me think about cherries.
Texans can boast about a lot of
tilings, but cherry free orchards is
not one of them. We do not even
have a town or creek using "cherry"
in-its,name as many other states do,
although we do have it as a family
name here in Panola County.
