____ _ ed Ray McLaughlin, District
iems facing our county today. Conservationist at Winnsboro.
The owner of land which
produces deer, quail and other
wild game is entitled to reve-
nue from the hunting of the
game. These are products of
the land the same as the live-
stock and timber it produces.
The welcome mat will again
be out when the landowner’s
city friends recognize the
above and start paying for the
privilege of hunting this game.
Farmers will do a better job
of managing and protecting
wildlife if it adds to the farm
Income. This will increase the
amount of game to be harvest-
ed, and furnish an incentive
for landowners to organize to
provide the area and other
accommodations for a succes-
sful and pleasing hunt.
Most hunters are good

stpek and game and their food

ers’ property and hie family.
This also effects the future
Welcome of all hunters.
Some landowners have been
known to destroy or abuse
game rather than have their
property invaded by unwel-
comed hunters who came in to
slaughter game and pay noth-
ing in return.
The Winnsboro area has a
good potential as a hunting
area. The game is here now
wd can be increased through
better management.
Plenty of hunters are with-
in two or three hours driving
distance who would be glad
to pay for the privilege of
hunting when they learn
where the game and other
facilities are available.
To reap the rewards of wild-
life, a valuable natural re-
source in this area, a land-
owner should do a better job
managing and protecting
game. A lot of thought and
effort should be put into or-
ganizing landowners for pro-
viding facilities for hunters
and informing the hunters of
the game and other facilities
available in the area.
