entered the V.A. Hospital in
Dallas to have surgery.

Mrs. Esther Cothern was
90 years old on January 8th.
She is in Westgate Hospital.
Two beautiful birthday
cakes were brought in
Sunday. Her son, Olan, and
his wife of Austin, spent the
weekend in Krum to be with
his mother. They plan to
come back again this
weekend.

The Home Demonstration
Club of Krum plans to meet
January 23rd in the home of
Mamie Bishop.

The guest speakers that
were to be on the panel
discussion for the Krum
THA Monday morning, were
unable to come because of
the ice, Mrs. Rogers turned
the discussion over to the
class and allowed the girls to
ask and answer questions.

It has now been reported
that Tracy Collom, the
Krum Post Master, was
married December 16th to
Dr. Joyce Laflin of Denton,
formerly of Kansas. She has
taught school for 11 or 12
years. The couple is now
living ir» o ton.
Herds. His mother has a
large dairy and one of her
cows produced 791 pounds of
butterfat production and
ranked 54th among all cows
in Texas. A representative
from Bryan of the Dairy
Herd Improvement
Association, comes out
every month and checks her
cows and sends samples of
the butterfat to the Duke
University in North Carolina
to be judged.

W. E. Austin fell on the
ice and injured one hand
rather severely and sprain
ed the wrist of the other
hand. KN
Mrs. Audra Milam is
having her house on Lloyd
Street in Krum remodeled
and fixed up. She has been
wanting to get this done for
a long time.

Flora Bryant returned
home from visiting relatives
in Magnolia, Arkansas.

Burtis McKinney has
spent several days in Pilot
Point.

Oscar Whiteside of Sang
er, suffered a stroke last
Friday and is in Westgate.
He is a cousin of Harold
Cockrill of Krum.'

Dr. and Mrs. Hugh
Pruett, returned last Friday
from Cancun, Mexico. It is
an island on the Mexican
Peninsula and has been
made into a Mexican resort.
They reported that it had
been discovered by Cortez,
hundreds of years ago. Dr.
and Mrs. Pruett said that
the beaches were as smooth
as walking in talcum
powder. They had been
wanting to see it for a long
time hut had to wait until
plane service was routed
there. The climate was
gorgeous also.

Weatherford visited her
mother, Mrs. Reba Chism.
While there she helped her
mother clean her house
throughly.
