RESTRICTED WEDDING DATES
At this time of year, we receive re-
quests for information about Jewish mar-
riage regulations.
We, at Beth Yeshurun, follow Jewish
tradition as stated and interpreted by
the Committee on Law and Standards
of the Rabbinical Assembly of America.
These are the rules in regard to dates
during Passover—Shavuoth period:
No weddings may be held Wednesday
evening, March 29th through April 9th.
Small weddings, without music, may
be held from April 9th, in the evening,
until May 1st (afternoon) except for
the evening of April 18th and the day
of April 19 th (Israel Independence
Day).
After May 1st, in the evening, wed-
dings may be held.
If you need any further information
as to when weddings may or may not
be performed, please call either rabbi
at 666-1883 and they will be very happy
to explain and aid you in the selection
of an appropriate wedding date.
Beth Yeshurun Day School joined in
the celebration of Rabbi William S.
Malev’s 25th anniversary with Beth
Yeshurun by presenting a tribute and
a significant gift of Young Trees to be
planted in Israel in the William S. Malev
forest.
The presentation, made in the Great
Sanctuary, was attended by classes from
Beth Hayeled, the Day School and the
entire teaching staff.
Mrs. E. Jim Leen, PTA president,
addressed the Rabbi and Mrs. Malev
and expressed the love and devotion felt
by the school toward its remarkable
Rabbi and Rebbitzen.
Lenore Cyprus, Robbie Steinfink and
Leslie Goldstein read a poetic scroll pre-
pared especially for this event. Its mess-
age compared the Day School to a tree
sending forth flowers each year ... a
tree planted and nurtured by the Rabbi.
Rabbi Malev was visibly grateful and
touched by the presentation. He spoke
of the history of the Day School and
of the many fine leaders who have made

the school what it is today. He paid
great honor to Educational Director,
Raphael Arbisser and to Principal, Mrs.
Leon Samet, praising them for their
outstanding ability and influence in mak-
ing our school known throughout the
country as one of the most highly ac-
credited Jewish Day Schools.
