THE GOOD OLD DAYS
*
*
*r
Gentlemen, the past is on parade!
*
K
Those were the good old days... When
notes floated around the campus like leaves
in a windstorm... There were all sorts of
notes... blue notes... jazz notes... hot notes
... sweet notes... and occasionally some very
sour notes... but they could be excused...
they came from the heart and like milk
soured as soon as they hit the air...
Those were the good old days when the
choir sang at twilight... the sweetest voices
this side of Paradise... and a comely group
in its a capello outfits... And take a peek at
that Glee Club... We’ll bet that many a heart
fluttered when these boys trilled forth
“Asleep in the Deep” and “Dinah”... And
that orchestra looked as though it were made
to blare out “Hot Lips”... Shades of Sousa
and Gounod... Well, those were the good
old days...
We seek to recapture here the first night
... the evening of thrills and chills when the
first bow was made and the first false note
was struck... the tickling spines of the audi-
ence and the pattering feet of those who
could scarcely sit still with all that rhythm
flowing about them...
We are giving you the tinkling piano, the
flowing sax, the tremulous tenor and the
booming barytones of another day... We
give you, too at no extra cost the tuxedo and
the pointed collars...
