that time, so I would encourage everyone to pick up a copy of
“New Rules and Regulations" when they purchase new
hunting and fishing licenses. Current licenses expire on
August 31.
Many local merchants now sell these licenses and I will
see to it that they have an ample supply of the pamphlets

The Black Bass fishing is still changing every day. As
the water temperature changes the fish move from shallow
to deeper water. The only sure way to constantly catch
Blacks right now is to throw crank baits - chrome seems to
do best
Crappie have not moved very much, they are still being
caught on minnows and jigs on brush piles in 20 to 30 feet of
w a t e i.
Sand B.iss just like the Black Bass are changing daily.
We need several days in the 100 degree range to bring them
back to the surface.
Check out the flats late in the evening for schooling
hiss. Rattletraps and lop waters can be very productive with
these st booling lish.
New Chamber member - Fish *N Hook
Several officers and members of the Sanger Chamber of Commerce were on hand to welcome new Chamber members Sherry
and Don Freeman of Fish ‘N Hook Into the group with a ribbon cutting, recently. Sherry and Don purchased the land east of
Sanger in 1985 with the intention of opening a tackle shop and began building in July of 1986. When the structure that is
both home and business to them was partially finished, they moved in in January of 1987 and opened for business on a
parttime basis in January of this year going to fulltime operation in June. Plans are to begin construction on boat storage
facilities sometime in August. From left to right are: Pat Fleissner, Beverly Howard, Chuck Taylor, Karen Lambert^ Randall
Houchin, president of the Chamber, Sherry and Don Freeman, Peggy Sanford, Debbie Tucker and Sam Burrus.

which are furnished free of charge by the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department. New licenses should be available for
purchase by the middle«of August.
Also, Lake Ray Roberts Wildlife Management Area will
again be included in a Type II hunting area this season
beginning September 1 with the opening of dove season in
this part of the state. Type II permits are $35 each and can
be purchased at all Parks and Wildlife offices and locally at
Justice of the Peace office in Sanger.
Funds derived from hunting and fishing licenses are
used to restock lakes, build state park facilities and to
generally advance the well being of wildlife.
I will advise everyone later on more details about
hunting and fishing laws changes which will affect this
area.

Saturday, July 28. I went fishing with a friend. I won’t
mention his name, but his initials are J. W. He lives in
Valiev View, runs a tan and orange Ranger with a Rice
Ro< ket lor Power. We have fished together several trips and
ever\ time he puts gas in his Yamaha, he puts in the cheapest
gas he can lin’d. 1 told him that it would run better on 90+
octanc .gas. He said . "These things will run on anything."
Well, guess what? Saturday he handed me the ghs pump
to do the till up and alter a few seconds 1 noticed he had
Ii.Hided me the diesel pump by mistake.
I said, "J. W . why arc you putting diesel in your tank?"
Well the expression on his face is hard to describe. 1
think the next time we go i'll have ready a bag of rice for fuel
addil ive.
Good luck on the Like and have a safe trip.
