and a storyteller will be at
the library. A softball
tournament and the selling
of tickets for a Nolan Ryan
book are planned for the
summer.
A guess for the amount of
coins in a large Jar is
ongoing. The winner of the
contest will receive a signed
copy of "Crossfire" by Jim
Marrs, one of the books used
as the basis for the movie
"JFK."

County Electric Cooperative

1000 kwh while Texas
Utilities (TU Electric)
averaged $73.45 for 1OOO
kwh and Texas New Mexico
Power (TNP) averaged $83.77
for the same usage.

Cooperative Is a member-
owned electric utility serving
approximately 26,000
residential, commercial and
industrial customers
throughout a 1,200 square
mile service area that
Includes all of Denton
County and portions of
Collin. Cooke, Grayson,
Tarrant and Wise counties In

Denton County Electric keeps growing
increase In population from
1980 to 1990, Denton County
became the fastest growing
county In the state of Texas.
During the same decade,
Collin rate of 81.8 percent.
And In 1991, the U.S. Census
Bureau officially bestowed
the designation of "urban
areas" to the cities of Denton
and Lewisville.
According to U.S. Census
Bureau figures, Denton
County has grown from
47.432 In 1960 to 273,525 In
1990. Meanwhile, Collin
County grew from 41,647 in
1960 to 264,036 In 1990.
As a result of our service
area’s growth, Denton
County Electric Cooperative
has experienced substantial
gains within the past nine (9)
years in sales and number of
new members. Fortunately,
the retail cost of electricity
per kilowatt hour for DCEC
members has not risen as
dramatically as the growth
of the Denton County
Electric Cooperative's
