PAY OF CHARACTER
WITNESSES STOPS
!Attorney General's Depart-
ment Holds Fees and
Mileage Illegal.
Austin Tex. April 13 Thousands of
dollars would be saved the Etate. accord-
ing to controfer Lane by the ruling
made today by the attorney general's
department through assistant attorney
general Meade in which it is held that
character witnesses in felony cases
whether subpenaed summoned or at-
tached are not entitled to fees. Here
tofore the state has paid such witnesses
fees at the rate of $1 per day and 3
cents mileage.
Judge Meade holds that by the adop-
tion of the new revised code of criminal
procedure by the last legislature as com-
piled by the codifiers no provision is
made to pay such witnesses. After
quoting the law judge Meade advised
the controler: -"You are therefore ad-
vised that in our opinion you would not
be justified in passing for payment any
claims for witness fees in felony cases
where the witness was brought into
court and testified solely as a character
witness."

No-Rim-Cut Tires
(10 Oversize)
No Extra Price
Goodyear No-Rim-Cut tires now cost no' more
than other standard tires.
They usedto cost one-fifth extra.
Since the reduction these tires outsell any
other tires in existence. 4
These are patented tires tires that can't rim
cut tires 10 per cent oversize.
They save all the worry and ruin of rim-cutting.
And the oversize adds under average condi-
tions 25 per cent to the tire mileage.
Countless users have proved this.

Over oae million of these patent
tires have sow ga iato B&e. They
have heea used perhaps on seme
200000 cars.
The resalt of that see is this:
The iemand in two years has
multiplied six times ever. It is
larger sew than for any other tire.
Goodyear tires are Bsed this
year hy 127 makers of cars.
This is due to the fact that No-Rim-Cut
tires eat tire bills in two.
Rim-Catting is ended entirely.
And the oversize means an over--tired
car.
These tires made by the great-
est of tire makers the final re-
salt 13 years spent in tire making
pre tires that yoa should know.
We have them. Come and see
them. Jadge them for yoarself.

AT.STI'N Texas April 13. On the campus of the InlTersIty of Texas a
building hns'lieen erected which Is a cross between a country school
house and " open air pavilion. It Is not used as a snrase Dut a the
"Hall of Domestic Economy" In which the JOHiiff women of the university
are to he tauRht the latest and most.sc ICBtlflc methods of home management.
The picture of the building demonstra ten the economy all right.
For the last three yeari the class rooms at the university have been
crowded to their utmost capacity and the Increased enrolment of this year
made the securing of additional room an absolate necessity. It wa thought
that the completion f the new library would leave the old one to be used for
class rooms but as the construction of the library wa. brought to a halt by
the action of Gov. Colquitt In vetoing the money appropriated for that pur-
pose the regents of the university have been forced to place this temporary
structure upon the campus ss a mate shift.
The cost of the building was 51000. It will continue In use until sufficient
funds are supplied by the state for the contraction of adequate buildings.
