CASEY IS INDICTED
ON MURDER CHARGE

J. Amberson August 3; Is Still
in the Hospital.
John P. Casey jr.. was indicted
Thursday afternoon by the grand Jury
lor murder. The defendant was arrest-
ed by the police on the night of August
3 following the killing of "William J.
Amberson at 9:30 oclock that night at
the Bellevue Messenger service office

Following an examining trial before
justice E. B. McClintock Casey was
remanded to jail without ball. On ac-
count of a wound received in his right
arm the authorities permitted his re-
moval to a local hospital to have it
treated. Casey is stidd confined to the
hospital.
Joseph M. Nealon. district attorney
stated that Casey's trial would prob-
ably come up in the 34th district court
where he stands indicted- for murder
en the first Monday in October.
The other indictments returned by
the grand jury Thursday afternoon
were: Frde Gilbert burglary; J. B. Ben-
nett robbery by assault; Cruz Trujillo.

The erection of the brick walls for
the new "Grecian" theater one of the
latest additions to El Paso's moving
picture'row on the corner of South El
Paso and Overland streets has begun.
The foundation work on the new thea-
ter is completed. The proprietors of
the new theater say they believe they
can have the new place opened in a
couple of months. It will cost about
$15000. King "Worley is the contractor.
The tearing down of the entrance and
front of the "Wigwam theater on San
Antonio street was begun Friday morn-
ing to enable the manageinent to en-

A. R. Read has purchased the fur-
nishings and business of the ooarding
house formerly conducted by Mrs. Dona
Blake at 91S Magoffin avenue. The
price paid was $400. The sale was

The Odd Fellows' lodge and the Re-
bekah lodge auxiliary are considering
renting the second floor of the Reek-
hart building on San Francisco street.
The officers of the lodge have been
considering the removal of the lodge

TWO BANDS TO BE IN
TUESDAY'S CONCERT
A massed military band concert will
be given in Cleveland Square Tuesday
night. The bands of the second cav-
alry and the 22d infantry will give the
concert and 38 musicians will partici-
pate in the concert.
Alderman Samuel Blumenthal has
taken up the matter of having the
Mexican band with the federal army in
Juarez to give a concert in El Paso be-
fore Gen. Huerta leaves Juarez for Chihuahua.
