Increase in Values Is Nearly
$2000000 but Not So
Large as ExpeetecL
Falling short of the anticipated
$3000000 increase by $1816305 the to-
tal assessed tax -valuation of the city
is $34085145 according to the report
of tax assessor and collector L.E. Bear.
The report shows an increase in Tarna-
tion of $1834695 over that of last
year the amount then jeing $3225045i.
On the rendered rolls of this year s
shown $26554110. -with the unrendercd
being given at $65963n0. Last year on
the rendered roll the valuation was $20-
554.110 and the unrendercd $569fi340.
With the valuation running below
the $3000000 'mark which was counted
on it seems doubftul that there will be
a reduction in the present tax rate of
$1.90 on the $100 valuation. Based on
that increase at one time it was in-
timated that the tax rate for the year
1913 would be $1.86 or even as low as
$1.85.
Mayor Says No Tax Raise.
"You can say that the tax rate will
not be raised -was the statement of
mayor C. E. Kelly Friday morning. 1
am not able to sav at this time what
the rate will be. Ve will have to do a
lot of fine figuring." le admitted that
the shortage in the expected valuation
would have a great deal of influence
in the fixing of the tax rate.
The collector's report will be gone
over by the members of the citv council
which will have the fixing of that rate
It was stated t'i .c it woull inU 1 rr
quire one week to do tins work -and be
fore the rate would be announced.

OF ANY OlMOillL UJL
Any sore that Is obstinate or slow in healing should cause suspicion and
put the sufferer on guard. Many an nicer which could have been cured if
it had been properly treated in time has been allowed to remain open un-
til it became infected -with some degenerate poison from the outside which
made it a malignant eating sore. Most old sores come from an impure
and polluted condition of the blood and can be healed if the circulation is
cleansed and purified of the predisposing cause. To attempt to cure a
chronic nicer with salves washes lotions etc. is trifling with what may
become a serious condition. S. S. S. heals chronic ulcers in a perfectly
natural way. It goes down into the blood and removes the impurities and
morbid matters which are the means of keeping the
place open; then the sore is bound to leal. Not only
does S. S. S. cleanse the circulation but it restores its
healing powers and aids in promoting the necessary
qualities for good health. S. S. S. builds new flesh
tissue from the bottom of the ulcer to the outer skin
and makes a permanent cure. Book on Sores and Ulcers and medical ad-
vice free to all who write and request same.
