You have fire and windstorm
insurance on your home and its
furnishings, of course; but how
about your garage, barn, or hen-
house? These are as liable to de-
struction as your home, and they
ought to be insured.
Let us inspect your outbuildings,
determine their worth, then write
you policies to cover them.

Regular cleaning not only pre-
serves clothes but it keeps them
looking new, even until they’re
threadbare from wear.
Then have them cleaned regular-
ly, for proper cleaning removes
the gritty dirt which is so destruc-
tive to clothing of every kind.

are human; they act like gods. In
the school of the town there are some
bad boys and girls. The teachers
tried mild punishment on the recalci-

the matter to their parents and grew
even more unruly. And what did the
parents do? Complain at the treat-

to fire the teachers? Nay, verily.
They went to a hardware store and
purchased several good leather straps.
They split the straps at one end, so
they would inflict a double .sting and
also make a loud noise. Then they
sent the straps to the teachers and
told the teachers to run the school.

Baltimore, Md. — Smoking does
various things to the reactions of nor-
mal man, as shown in experiments
conducted by Vivian E. Fisher, for-|£ures
disease are being offered in many of
the great cities of America. Dr. Max
C. Starkloff, health commissioner of
St. Louis, has sent the following
statement concerning cancer:
“One person in every ten of those
who died in St. Louis in 1926 died of
cancer. The latest available figures
for the United States show a death
rate of one in eight from cancer.
Since 1910 a continued and alarming
increaseMn deaths from this cause
has occurred all over the civilized
world. Deaths from cancer, reported
to the Health Division in 1910, were
536 while in 1926 the number had
risen to 1,096.
“Many of these were unnecessary.
Early recognition of the disease and
prompt treatment would have saved
many of these persons. The impor-
tant procedure to prevent future un-
necessary deaths is to educate the
public to recognize danger signals of
cancer and to seek early diagnosis by
clinical and scientific' labratory ex-
aminations. Any lump, especially in
the breast; any irregular discharge ox*
bleeding; any sore that does not heal,
particularly about the tongue, mouth
or lips; and persistent indigestion
with loss of weight should be regard-
ed as danger signals. The most pa-
thetic side of this situation is the per-
son who believes cure may be had
without surgical aid. The cancer
quack, the vender of patent prepara-
tions breed false hopes and waste
precious time. No form of internal
medicine will cure cancer.
"Medical science has not discover-
ed the cause of cancer but the pre-
vention and cure are well understood.
If so, you will need lumber to build or
repair the henhouse or brooder house,
lumber and wire for fences, lumber for

One of the most vivid truths of
this great Southwest is that "all sun-

both in human life and land. The
picturesque in both is marvelously
multiplied by clouds.
Most folks have trouble without
borrowing any. Young people come
to the realities of life soon enough,
and no parent enjoys knowingly
strewing the path of his progeny with
hardships. Struggle will come to all
normally. The trouble is that too
many fond parents give cars and al-
lowances entirely out of proportion
to needs. The youth is relieved of
the effort.

reasons for giving up the habit and

Briefly, Mr. Fisher finds that to-

Raises the blood pressure immedi-

Causes decrease in steadiness as
