DETROIT, Jul;- 24 (UP)—The
Rev. Charles E. ^oughlln today
officially apologized to President
Roosevelt for calling him a "liar
and a double-crosser" but indi-
cated he would continue his fight
against the New Deal and
"apostolate of crackpots.’’
The radio priest, his face flush-
ed, his collar off, waved his arms
to illustrate points as he explain-
ed that his tirade against Mr.
Roosevelt at the Cleveland Con-
vention was against "Roosevelt
the candidate, not Roosevelt Die
president.”
Coughlin reiterated the apology
which appeared in his weekly
newspaper, social justice, today
and then explained his attack on
the president.
Mrs. A! Smith and baby son,
David, of Kilgore spent Thurs-
day here. David Smith remained
here to spend the week-end with
his granmother, Mrs. F. A. Cover.
