The congregation at Pearl Har-
bor where Douglas Davis is
preaching has recently in-
augurated a Youth Group Gath-
ering for once each month.
All of the young people — both
members of the church and non
members — have been invited.
Films, slides and talks on
youth problems are presented
regularly.
Congregational singing char-
acterizes the programs and re-
freshments are served at the
conclusion iof each.
Twenty-seven young people
from Honolulu attended in
March.

HONOLULU, Hawaii — The
Honolulu Church of Christ re
cently authorized the trustees to
purchase a residence for the
preacher*s> to live in.
Due to the extremely high
cost of a house near the church
building, the trustees are nego-
tiating purchase of a two bed-
room apartment in a Condomin-
ium Plan of ownership.
The cost of the apartment is
only about half the price of
a house with one bedroom and
the monthly payments will be
within the reach of the congre-
gation.
Other items of improvement
are being made on the Honolulu
church building.
Eight Gained
In Sao Paulo
SAO PAULO, Brazil — Since
the first of 1963, eight persons
have been baptized at the Cen-
tral congregation in Sao Paulo.
Five of these were first con-
tacted in the street meetings
that are conducted each Satur-
day night in the center of the
city.
Arlie Smith, minister at Cen-
tral. says. “We also have five
other members who were first
interested at the street meet-
ings, and eight of the families
of these converts were baptized
later.
Information about the work of
the church in Brasil may be ob-
lu.lcUc, tallied by writing Smith or the

Snowstorm Drives Fishermen
To Contact with Missionary
By Bob Joliff
OMIKA, Japan (CNS)-Jugt after a snowstorm^
I met a group of men wandering around the campus
of Ibaraki Christian College. ,
Although their rugged appearance almost scared
me, 1 greeted them and found out they were fisher-
men from Aomori, several hundred miles to the
north.
They had gone out early one morning for a day
of fishing and were to return as usual that night.
That was five days before. The next four days
they spent trying to keep the small fishing boat on
top of the water in a cold snowstorm with waves
twelve feet high. f\
They finally made land at Kujihama, ond mile
from the campus.’ I invited them in for a cup of
coffee and gave them all a tract. I found that
none of them had a Bible, so I gave them a New
Testament I had at the house.
In my poor Japanese I tried to interest them in
reading it by telling them about some of the fishing
experiences of our Lord. ~
Eventually they returned to Kujihama and their
ship, but not before they promised to read more
about this Jesus who lived and ate with fishermen.
I have their addresses and have already sent them
additional tracts.
