An Editorial
South Franklin Water
Needs Pine Valley
By Robert W. Wright
An application by Double Diamond, Inc. to the Texas Water
Commission to operate a private water system in the Pine Valley
Development needs the attention of all Franklin County
residents.
Water for rural residents in this county is supplied by non-
profit cooperatives that are finding it harder and harder to sur-
vive as they run long lines between farms and residences. Within
a development, however, the distances are short and the connec-
tions are many. ;
South Franklin Water Supply has 1350 customers and 350
miles of line to maintain. The state water commission has already!
designated South Franklin Water Supply as the single water sup-'
plier for that portion of the county. The exception to the rule that
is being sought by Double Diamond is not in the best interest of (
the majority of the residents of the south part of the county. »
We need to call on the Texas Water Commission to deny the I
application to Double Diamond, clearing the way for South i
Franklin Water Supply to operate a financially solid non-profit;
corporation.
If you agree, dip this article, sign it and mail it before Jan. 15 ;
with your return address to Texas Water Commission, Water (
Rates and Services Section, P. O. Box 13087, Austin, Tx.!
78711-2087. Taking that much care can save a locally owned,;
locally operated water system for you and your neighbors in;
south Franklin County.
