"The police, in our opinion,
have been disarmed. No long-
er can discipline be main-
tained on our streets when
our security forces have been
stripped of their instruments
to maintain law and order.
A hard-nosed approach to this
problem is, in our opinion,
the only approach toward
correcting the self-appointed
right to violate the laws of
this nation that are designed
to protect those who desire
to obey them. "

After reading about the "irregularity" reported to an El Paso
newspaper by a "high county official" concerning the election of
commissioner, I strongly recommend for the said high
P™ne’jmce early in the morning, and
Epsom Salts at bed time. I feel sure that all "irregularities" will
be corrected at the Court House and we, the working people of
and amateur politician games.
In closing I formally move
that we give all county offi-
cials a regular time-card to
write down number of hours
worked and kind of job, daily.
And to show that our heart
is in the right place, we
will include wage increases
or decreases commensurate
with accomplishment.

Hudspeth County, will be
saved from future ridicule.
I am sure that you, as Edi-
tor of the Hudspeth County
Herald, have been aware of
the fact that these "Irregulars"
from Sierra Blanca have been
investigating Commissioner
J. D. Lee for a long, long
time and have tried very hard
to influence the results of the
elections in Precinct #3 by in-
viting residents of the precinct
to run as write-ins. In other
words they are trying to sur-
prise the good faith of the- a-
verage citizen with a veiled
candidate, for the simple reas-
on that the great majority of
residents in the said precinct
will keep on voting for J, D,,
for the simple reason that he
gets the Job done, for the sim-
ple reason that he is the only
progressive authority in the
county and that's a lot of sim-
ple reasons.
I can't forget the fact that
when Congressman White in-
vited County Judges and Sh-
eriffs to a demonstration of
air-rescue a few months ago,
from a total of seven coun-
ties, Hudspeth was the only
one not represented, which
means that the jobs are con-
sidered old- age-retirement-
post and its a lot more fun to
let the days go up in gossip
