Peter Lewis is in town and his wife contracted
measles at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and so far has managed to
escape detection. We had a very pleasant evening with the Lewises,
the Barnses and Wing Pepper.
Mary Jean is fine and I understand that Conde Nast
submitted her piece on cortisone to the Lasker Prize Committee
for consideration as the best piece of medical reporting in 1950.
If she wins this there will be no putting up with her. I think you
had better not mention that I told you this as perhaps it is being
kept as a surprise.
