Check Room in Center
Open Throughout Day
A free service to all students is
the check room in the corridor be-
tween the cafeteria and El Alamo
ballroom open Monday through
Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A
large variety of articles will be
accepted but no purses or jewelry
will be secured.
The check room will receive new
plastic tokens which will replace
the metal rimmed cardboard ones
now used. Students are asked not
to deface or lose the tokens as a
25 cent donation will be charged
for the recovery of the articles
left in the check room.

Eleven prospective members at-
tended the San Antonio College
Debaters get-acquainted social
mixer on September 26. The meet-
ing, in which coming events were
discussed, was presided over by
Sponsor Charles Bigby, President
Pro-Tern Andrea Arnold, and Sec-
retary-Treasurer, Jerry Armstrong.
Future meetings will be held Tues-
days at 3 o’clock.

Cheshvre Cheese
Votes on Officers,
Elects New Members
Ye Olde Cheshyre Cheese Club
has accepted 23 new members
into the organization.
At the first organizational and
invitational meeting held on Sep-
tember 27, prospective new mem-
bers were voted into Cheshyre
Cheese and the election of minor
officers was held.
New members include Magda-
lena Alvarado, Faye Bachman,
Thomas Baumgarten, Elroy Beh-
ring, John Black, Lou Ella Dot-
son, William Espinoza, Margaret
Felder, Manuel Fernandez, Rich-
ard Hassen, Wanda Herndon, Kathy

Recruit Members
Attention drama,
oral interpretation
Speechcrafters want YOU!
need not be majoring or minoring
in Speech to be eligible to at-
tend meetings.
Short plays, dramatic readings
and monologues are presented by
the members at each meeting.
The first such meeting was held
last week. Each of the eight in-
structors of the speech depart-
ment explained his duties in the
area of radio, oral interpretation,
debate and drama.
Two members performed. An-
drea Arnold read poetry and Jo
Ann Bliss presented her interpre-
tation of Tennessee Williams’
“This Property Is Condemned.”
This same interpretation won Jo
Ann first place honors at the
Texas Junior College Speech As-
sociation competition last year.
Approximately 50 students at-
tended the opening session.
Speecherafters will meet again
on October 10 in the foyer of the
McAllister Auditorium, at which
time the constitution is to be rati-
fied. Election and installation of
officers is also scheduled.
