Alvarado praised Morales' desite
and motivation to jump into the fray1,
of big city politics.
"He has a lot of guts and he be-
lieves in the things he is saying," i
Alvarado said of Morales. \
'T met him the day of the drawing \
for places on the ballot and he im- -/
pressed me quite a bit. He was very I
well dressed and articulate," ’•
Alvarado said.
Morales is cautiously optimistic
about his chances of winning.
"I think I'll do well because I'm
taking my message to people who
aren't being represented," he said.
"I don't have a lot of money and
people say you need things, like
signs, to get your name out there.
"But people don't get anything
from those signs because the only
thing on them is someone's name,"
he said.
Morales says a lot of important
issues need to be addressed by who-
ever ends up winning the election.
"Helping fix up the South Side,
incentive programs to get gangs off
the streets and trying to solve edu-
cation problems in the city are some i
other issues I would tackle," he said.
