Foreign students in the United States
who are not permanent residents need to
be aware of F-l regulations, the coordi-
nator of international student services said
March 3 in a student development semi-
nar.
“One of the single most serious of-
fenses that a student can commit is
working off campus without authoriza-
tion by INS or the international stu-
dents’ office,” Joseph Fernandes said.

Students must provide documents
proving financial support is no longer
available.
A student also may be allowed to
work off campus if the student was in-
volved in an accident or was ill and had
to be confined in a hospital, he contin-

Documents must be provided for
INS.
INS regulations state that a student’s
stay in the United States is illegal if the
student is not enrolled, does not complete

Herff had medical accomplishments and breakthroughs.

Meusebach founded the cities of Fredericksburg, Castell and
Leiningen.
Meusebach also negotiated a peace treaty with the neighbor-
ing Indians.
Thirteen chiefs signed it and the Meusebach-Comanche treaty
took effect.
The treaty was negotiated for a total of $3,000. Of that, $2,000
was in town credit and $1,000 was in coin, for Indians did not
like paper money, Schumann said.
Meusebach, who had a house near
college and was a state senator, was
tics, Schumann said.
“The Germans also believe that the Meusebach Trail was made
by Germans, but it was first made by animals, then used by
Indians and Spanish, and finally the Germans,” Schumann said.
The Germans had an important part in forming the King
William district, Schumann said.
The district west of downtown is preserved as the King Will-
iam Historic District.

Lindheimer was at one time the editor of the New Braunfels
Times, which was the local newspaper in New Braunfels.
Lindheimer was a good friend of Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa
Anna of the Mexican army and played an important role in the

Lindheimer,” Schumann said.
A student may work off campus only
after completing one academic year, he
said.
When students applied for admission
to this college, they were required to show
they had the ability to support themselves
either through their own funds or a spon-
sor.
“You should be devoting all your time
to your studies so that you start off with
good, solid grades instead of working,”
he said.
After one academic year, a student can
apply for off-campus employment needed
for medical or economic reasons,
Fernandes said.
A student will be allowed to work based
on a severe change in economic status
