YOUR CHOICE EACH
Dear Editor:
I recently mailed questionnaires
to all registered families in my
legislative district whose names
appear on the list in the Secretary
of State’s office. Unfortunately, due
to the lagtime between registration
and appearance on that list and
because some voters have changed
residences, a few people may not
have received a questionnaire.
It is very important to me that
anyone who did not receive a
questionnaire have the opportunity
to complete one. I hope that those
people who would like to have a

Dear Editor,
Upon reading last weeks letter
(Bro. Polk at the dog fights).
Although I salute his bravery, I
think I question his wisdom in this
matter. Even though he was deal-
ing with the more docile Bray Ave.
variety of dog. (Canineious not so
badeous). I can personally (as a
victim) warn you not to take this
kind of action against these East
side dogs (canineious mucho bad
asseous). For upon trying this
myself (trying to kick at a bunch of
these critters). I kicked alright, but
all I brought back was half a pair of
perfectly good brithces and mangl-
ed leg. The dogs got my shoe and
foot, both of which I was able to
recover and repair.
Being the owner of a dog I agree
with a lot — even most of what Bro.
Polk had to say. But, I have seen
the dog question come up for as
many times as years that I have
been here. I have tried the fence
only to have ole KILLER stand
there and bark at the dogs (packs of
as many as ten or more at times)
who were holding their seasonal
Olympics. I have had the police
come to the house threatening to
cite me about Killers barking, and
tell me at the very same time there
was nothing they could do about the
dogs running loose in the street.
Well, what do you do about the
problem? Some would say just
shoot em. Well, after digging some
bird shot out of a leg listning to
some hard ammo whine off of some
of these rock houses, not to men-
tion a friend who can tell you how
rough it is on storm doors. So I am
not real wild about that idea.

Dear Joe & Yvonne:
Was delighted to hear from you,
it was nice of you to take the time to
write. Thank you, Yvonne, for
writing the letter so I could read it.
Thank you, Joe, glad you ap-
prove. I would like to explain about
the “who visited who’’ in Post
Scripts. I got the impression from
your letter that you thought Frank
instructed me to do this instead of
writing a column. That is not true. I
can write a column anytime, but
please remember that I am NEW at
this. I have never written a thing in
my life. When I do have something
to write, I want it to be interesting
and enjoyable to read. Not just
something to stick in just so I will
have a column each week.
I appreciate your confidence in
me. Just give me time to learn.
Nice to hear from you, hope you
both are well. Maybe we’ll see you
sometime.

THE PADUCAH POST, PADUCAH, TEXAS
Dear Editor,
I firmly agree to each word
written by Mr. Polk concerning
roaming dogs in our neighborhood.
Dogs should be allowed to use
their own yards before the gate is
opened, but then, owners would
have to wash their shoes before
returning to the house.
Sincerely,
Jack Finley
weeks and I think some of them had
merit.
I was very pleased that you
revived Post Scripts and your first
column about the hospital situation
was very good. The paper Certainly
needs an Editor who is aware and
interested in problems of the com-
munity, but I was disappointed to „
read last week that you will only be would very much like to share this
reporting about “Who’s Visiting
who.’’
Freedom of the press is about the
only legacy we have left from our
forefathers, who fought and died
for that freedom. Most of our other
rights have been taken away. The
purpose of a community newspaper
is to present the pro’s and con’s of
issues. This does not mean you
agree with either.
One letter from a narrow minded
reader who thinks everyone should
believe their way should never
cause one to tuck their tail and run.
We do live in a democracy, and if
all newspapers knuckled under to
keep from making waves, what
kind of America would we have.
I am sure you remember all the
hot water I stayed in when Yvonne
and I published the Post, you can’t
be in the newspaper business and
not step on toes. You can’t be a
fence straddler, you have to stand
up for what’s right and inform the
readers. You have a responsibility
to all readers, not just the ones who
make all the noise.
Always be proud of your position
and most of all be proud of the
Paducah Post and never do any-
thing to downgrade either one. Just
remember, the majority of your
readers want to see the truth
printed.
Just wanted to let you know my
feelings. Stay in there girl and keep
your head up high.
