POINT OF VIEW
By JUNE HENSLEY
What the sehuol spirit has been at Turleton
in past jears, 1 could nut rightly say. 1 have only
been told that Taileton has nhvavs been known
as a school full oi spirit of cooperation among
the .students, iaeult\ menibeis, all athlctic
teams and othei organizations* connected with
the school m anv wav. T tound that last vear
tlie spinl was mavhe just a 1-ittle under par
liom all the accounts I had heaid from Tarle-
ton exes. The sludeiil-lacully cooperation was
fully as 1 had expected The teacheis and stu-
dents both made it a point to cooperate to the
fullest extent with the other members of thp
organization that it takes to make up a good
school
The spirit I'm speaking of when I say it watt
a little under par is the school spirit we lackcd
at the beginning ot the school year. Tlie small
crowds of students al the ball sanies and pep
rallies proved that not all of the Tarleton stu-
dents really had the spmt Whether oi not
the athletic teams leceived suppoit seemed
to matter vcrv little to the majority ol the
students In tact poor ole' Oscai P was ju-at
on his last leg—he had almost gu7on this bunch
oi Tarletonites the tag: of being just 'chickens.'
Then about the middle of the season thei e was
a sharp use in the school spn it Al the TatJe-
ton-Uanger tussle Oseai 1'. loomed forth once
moie on Ihe TSC campus.
As is alwa\s true in school spirit, there
aie times when the student body is full of
energy, pep, and vitalilv which makes for good
.school spirit Then there are times when a stu-
dent bodv seems to be sapped of its etiergv, and
that is the time when the spirit goes on the
rocks When Oscar P. letiirned to the campus
lale in Ihe football season last vear. lie did
not come back in his lull colors lie was still
vei.\ weak imm the suffering he had under-
gone when more than half of the students
didn't know be was ali\e. The seniors last year
were particulailv won led about the thriving
oi the school ypijit The maioriU of them won-
dered lust how Taileton could keep on going
with such porn spitil—and at times thev cer--
tainly had a right to be worried
T think that many ol the last year's seniors
would have been sutpiised, but verv pleased,
at the way in which last year's fieshnien took
ovei this year when the school bells tolled out
at the beginning of this term. Everyone started
in his own way to make the freshmen of this
vear realize how very important it is to have
good school spirit These freshmen look lo the
idea ol making ynnd school spirit and the icsult
has been A-1 spirit all the wa\
The pep rallies have been more like pep
rallies should he With the band helping to
make noise, the Plow boys have had no trouble,
in knowing the student bodv was for them
the wa\ The cheerleaders have given willingly
of their time to keep Oscar P in the pink.
Attendance at the games has been wonderful
—especially the home games, but the football
team ceitainlv does not expect the whole stu-
dent bodv to go loping oil' to every game they
play, but tlie faithful tew looters who do
lourney to the games are really apprieated.
The thirh students who went lo Paris to sno
the Plowboy* go down before the team of Dra-
gons showed then spn it bv out veiling the
whole Paris sludent body nlns a band. The
othei out ot town games have not had quite
such a following of students, ^et by tlie sound
ol the pep rallies be I ore and after llie games,
the team knows the .-Indent bods is PLOW-
BOYS .ill the wax
And PLO\VB0"\S mII the wa: is as exactly as
it should be, fur this bunch ol bovs have really
proved that Tarlelon is not a school lo let one

verv iortunate to have (lie opportunity to sup-
poit such a faithtu I team hveiv member of
