Sadie Hawkins Week
Set for August 7'12
Attention, gals Set your eye on
that man of your dreams now, and
take out after him while it's all
perfectly legat Sadie Hawkins
Week will soon be here. August 7
has been set for the opening date,
and the fun will last until Satur-
day night, August 12 at 11:30. So,
all you Sadies, be prepared. The
boys are sitting around, waiting.
Now's your chance. During this
week1 girls will run after the boys,
make the dates, tag at all dances,
open doors for the boys, carry their
books, guide them away from mud
holes, make all advances, and pay
the bills. Mind your manners, gals,
and step lively.
I All girls and boys must obey the
rules set down for this week. Pun-
ishment for disobedience will .be
severe. These are the rules:
1. All engagements made prior
to Sadie Hawkins' Week are null
and void.
2. Every girl in Tarleton must
have two or more dates during
Sadie Hawkins' Week.
3. Proposals of marriage are in
order, but they must be made in the
traditional Leap Year manner, and
the girl must furnish the ring.
4. Females nras;t spend at least
five cents per date on males and
must not spend more on themselves
than they do on their dates.
5. Females must make all ap-
proaches, advances, etc., and any
male caught drumming up trade
will be severely punished.
6. All courtesies generally clue
ladies will be due gentlemen.
7. A boy may not refuse a date
unless he is going home to his
grandma's funeral, has over ?1,-
000,000 in the bank, has passed
over 28 hours during the first sem-
ester, has to study, has a date, has
a headache, or has just washed his
hair and can't do a thing with it.

KNOW ALT. TABLE TON MEN what ain't married by these pres-
ents, and
WHEREAS there be inside our town limits a paasel of gals what
ain't married but craves something powerful to be, and
'WHEREAS, these gals' pappies and mammies has been shouldering

is tolerable, and , ■
WHEREAS, there be in John's Institute plenty of young men what
could marry these gals but acts ornery and won't, and
WHEREAS, we deems matrimony's joys and being sure of eating
regular the birthright of pur fair Tarleton womanhood,
WE HEREBY PROCLAIMS AND DECREES, by right of the power
invested in us as Mayor of John's Institute, that Monday,
August 7, to Saturday, August 12, is Sadie Hawkins Week.

motions has been released. The

Do You Have a
Hidden Talent?
Confident that within the gates
of Tarleton lies much hidden talent,
the chorus is endeavoring to bring
that,talent to light. With the help
of. Mrs. Coffin, the director, the
Tarleton Chorus'will present a tal-
ent parade just as soon as a pro-'
gram can be arranged. So all of
you who have aij accomplishment
of one kind or another, make it-
known'and get in on the fun. If
you can sing, dance, play an in-
strument, or make like Barrymore,
see Mrs. Coffin at the conservatory
tomorrow, Wednesday, August 2,
Whatever your talent may be, help
the chorus in its efforts by coming
out for the talent parade.
The Tarleton Chorus and Mrs.
Coffin have been practicing hard
during all the hot weather these
past weeks. They are now putting
the finishing touches oh some num-
bers of their own and will make
their debut at the talent parade.
If everyone will co-operate and
enter into the program, there will
be plenty of entertainment for all,
and-the spirit of Tarleton will im-
prove considerably. -

HALF STAFF MONDAY = '
Tarleton's flag was at half staff
Monday in respect to the memory
of Mr. Cody L. Donaho, the campus
nightwatchman, who died suddenly
on Sunday night, July 30, shortly
after going off duty. He had not
left the campus. Mr. Donaho, well-
known to all the students as "the
friendly little night watchman,"
had been serving as watchman for
11 years.
Wanted: News for "The Hunewell
Sleuth"
You, too, can be a secret deputy
for the Hunewell Sleuth. If you
know- any gossip or other campus
news, write it on a piece of paper
and drop it in one of the boxes pro-
vided for that purpose. One, box
has been placed in the Rec. Hall and
another in the girls' dormitory.
