DR. ROBERT TOULOUSE, Dean of the Graduate
School at North Texas State University, spoke Fri-
day night to a group of approximately 50 Tarleton
students interested in graduate work. Dr. Toulouse
..appeared on the campus at the invitation of the
Math Club,
17 To Receive Degrees
James Smith, Tarleton band
director, has announced the 1967
TSC Stage Band Contest to be
held Feb. 4, 1967, in the''■Tarle-
ton Center.
Morrison
Gets Grant
Dr. E. O. Morrison, associate
professor of biology, has been
awarded a $750.00 grant from
the American Philosophical, So-
ciety to study the internal para-
sites of' Texas amphibians.
Dr. Morrison ,also -received
notice from the Society 'that
four of his manuscripts have
been accepted for publication.
Dr. Morrison, who joined the
Tarleton faculty in 1966, has a
Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M
University. He has served as an
instructor and teaching, assis-
tant at Texas A&M and was an
assistant professor of biology at
Lamar Tech in Beaumont prior
to coming to TSC.
—- Seventeen Tarleton students
are candidates for graduation
during commencement exercis-
es to be held Jan. 26. The mid-
year graduation ceremonies
will take place at 2:00 p.m. in
the Tarleton Center.
Five students are candidates
for the Bachelor of Arts degree
and 12 are scheduled for the
Bachelor of Science. Two stu-
dents are expected to receive
their certificates of completion
in two-year fields.

In Texas A&M
Graduate Course
Approximately 25 persons at-
tended an organizational meet-
ing Tuesday night concerning a
graduate level education course
to be offered on the Tarleton
State College campus.
The course, education 639 at
Texas A&M University, "Pro-
cesses in Educational Leader-
ship", will be offered in as-
sociation with A&M and will
count as three semester hours
residence credit, the same as
if it were taken on the A&M
campus.
! It was decided by the group
to hold the class on Mondays
from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The first
class meeting Will be Feb, 6.
Anyone interested in enrolling
for the course should contact
TSC registrar John Whiting by
Jan. 14.
" The contest, which is the first
of its kind to be held here, will
feature some £0 high • school
stage bands ranging from Class
A through Class AAA. Each
band will play from 15 to 20
minutes according .to its class.
An outstanding panel of jud-
ges made up of John Jacoby,
Bob Siebert and. John Giordano
has been chosen for the contest,
John Jacoby is recognized as
• one of the finest trumpet play-
■ -ers in the country. He is a
former TMEA trumpet clinician
and his recordings with the col-
lege All-Stars are in most high
school stage band libraries.
Bob Siebert is the chief ar-
' ranger for KSM Publishing Co,
He is a former educator, trom-
bonist and member of Kenton
. Stage Band Camp Faculty,
John Giordano, former TSC
band director, is a Fullbright
Scholarship winner for the saxa-
phone. He is the first full-time
saxaphone instructor at North
Texas State University, Gior-
. dano is a featured soloist with

First, second and third place
awards will be given in the four
classes and at the close of the
contest, an All-Star band will be
named.
The contest is termed as a
great "Warm-Up" for exper-
ienced bands that attend other
contests later in the spring. It is
also an excellent experience for
younger bands that ordinarily
do not attend other contests.

The Texas Fine Arts Associa-
tion will present a circuit ex-
hibition of Texas artists in the
■Tarleton state College Library
Jan. 30-Feb, 13.
Twen,ty paintings will be on
exhibit. Some will be for sale
at prices' ranging from $40.00
to $500.00. ;
The pictures in this exhibition
were selected for circuit and
the awards were given by the
juries of the Spring Jury Show,
May, 1966, the State Citation
Exhibition, July, 1966, and the
Fall Invitational, October, 1966.
All of these shows were spon-
sored by the Texas Fine Arts
Association.
Civil Service Forms
Available Now
Students interested in taking
the Federal Civil Service En-
trance Examination may pick
up application forms in the
Financial Aids Office.
Applicants may take the test
on one of the following dates:
Feb. 18; Mar. 18; April 15;
May 20; or June 17. Applica-;
tions must be received one
month prior to the test date.
The entrance examination is
required of all prospective Fed-
eral employees with the except-
ion of those applying for tem-
porary summer employment.
Students Urged
To Prepay Fees
TSC business manager Ger-
ald Fanning urges students to
pay their fees for the spring
semester in advance. He ex-
pressed appreciation to those
who have followed this proce-
dure in the past and noted that
it saves time and trouble for
the students as well as the
business office.
Fees may be paid at the
cashier's window any time prior
to registration day.
