Dr. L.B. Waymack, of the
Agriculture faculty, will be a
guest lecturer at the upcoming
annual International,Stockmen's!
School to be held Jan. 8-11 in
San Antonio.
Animal science specialists

been invited to lecture before an
expected attendence of more
than 3,000.
; £>r. Waymack will discuss,
"Breeding Problems in
Stallions," on Jan. 8, and
"Factors Influencing Lowered
Fertility Rates in Mares," on
Jan. 9, in two one-hour lectures.
■ Dr. Waymack joined the TSU
faculty in 1976 as director of
the equine program. Prior to
joining the TSU staff, Dr.
Waymack was associated with
the experiment station at the
University of Arizona in Tuscon.
He completed his B.S. at the
University of Arkansas, an M.S.
at Mississippi State University,
and a Ph.D. at LSU.
Dr. Waymack's invitation
followed his article, "Principles
and Problems of Equine
Reproduction," published in the
January, 1978, issue of '"'The
Quarter Horse Journal" and
subsequent printed articles.
The International Stockmen's
School is sponsored by the
Agriservice Foundation of
Clovis, Calif. All the lectures on
the school program will be
■published in the upcoming issue
of "The Stud Manager's
Handbook."
New laboratory:
TSU horse center to expand
A contract for the
construction of a 1,700 square
foot laboratory building at the
TSU horse center marks the
beginning of a planned
expansion program for the
center.
Contractor Philip ; Hale of
Stephenville was awarded the
$94,700 contract last Tuesday
by the A&M Board of Regents.
The concrete block building
will be constructed adjacent to
the existing Leo Potishman
equine laboratory. Thje new
laboratory structure and
facilities will accomodate up to
35 students. The contract will
also include new rest room
facilities and an asphalt parking

Employee retirement age
increased in A&M system
At their November meeting
of the board of regents of the
Texas A&M University System
approved a new retirement
policy for employees 'oft the
system including TSU.
The new 'policy , gdes into
effect Jan. 1, 1979 and lis based
on the fact that all employment
within the Texas A&M
University System is predicted
upon each individual's mental
and physical abilities to perform
satisfactory service and normal
and expected assignments.
Under the provisions of the
new policy system employees,
with the exception of tenured
employees shall retire at^the
end of the fiscal year in which
their 70th birthday occurs.
Tenured employees will, until
July 1, 1982, reti re at the.end
of the fiscal year in which their
65th birthday occurs.
Any employee who is subject
to mandatory reti rement at age
65 may be employed either
part-time or full-time on a
year-to-year basis through fiscal
year in which the 70th birthday
occurs.
Any recommendation for
extension of employement will
be initiated by the employing
department through the proper
administrative officers' at
budget-making time each year
for the chancellor's review.and
