The picture above was taken at the celebration of
a perfect housekeeping score of zero at the Phenol
Plant No. 1, the first such score to be racked up by
process and M & C employees working at the unit.
The housekeeping scoring method is based on a
demerit system. For every piece of trash or misplaced
item of equipment found around a unit during the
monthly inspection, a demerit point is given. A unit’s
grade is the number of demerits. A score of 10 is
considered good, while a zero is perfect.
The group at Phenol No. 1 has had seven good
scores of 10 or less in the past year. Inspections are

Winners need not be present
when the prizes are awarded
during the fish fry Sunday after-
noon, July 8.
All catches will be verified
through your favorite fishing
camp and brought to the official
weigh-in station, Plato’s Corner
Grocery. Plato’s is located about
one-half mile east of the Cedar
Bayou bridge on Tri-City Beach
Road.
All participants must have a
receipt of their donation before
going fishing.

Smith played ball in Baytown
with the old Humble Oilers when
it was one of the belter semi-pro
teams in the area. Smith came to
scout the senior league for pos-
sible future Coll 45s.
Mancuso, of Houston, was a
major league catcher for 20
years before his retirement in
1915. Mancuso gave the teenage
ball players some advice and tips
on how to play better ball. Later
he coached the catchers of both
teams on how to play the catcher
position better.
In the Senior Teenage league
the Eagles, managed by Tommy
Schuble. Electric, copped the
first half of the tournament
championship by defeating the
Red Sox. managed by L. C.
W alker. Pipe, by a score of 11-3.
An all-star show between Bay-
town and South Houston is now
being planned for the immediate
future.

A dollar donation to the Bay-
shore Rod, Reel and Gun Club
will entitle you to a fish fry din-
ner with all the trimmings, and
the opportunity to match your
fishing skills against other fisher-
men. Starting tomorrow morning
at 8, the fishing contest begins
and will extend through 7 p.m.
Saturday, July 7.
The five fish classifications are
speckled trout, red fish, sand
trout, gafftopsil, and croakers.
Each of these will have first,
second and third place winners
in a senior and junior division.
The senior division will include
fishermen 14 years of age and
older.
Each first place winner in
the senior division will receive
a Garcia 5,000 reel and a Bail-
cast rod having a total retail
value of $82. The second place
winner gets a Garcia 5,000 reel,
Fish will be gulled at the
weigh-in station to be sure
weight has not been added. Muti-
lated or spoiled fish will not be
accepted. Fish must be caught
during the official contest lime
interval to be eligible.
All fish must be caught by
hook and line, rod and reel, or
pole and line. The fish must be
caught in the Trinity Bay area,
and in the case of a fish weight
lie, the fish registered first will
win.
In the event of a lie, the
judges decision will be final in
all cases.
