Tuesday afternoon the burn-
ing oil well of the Steen Drill-
ing Co., on the A. R. Loden
lease, continued to consume
thousands of barrels of oil dai-
ly as fire fighters strove to ex-
tinguish the blaze. ~
The well is just a couple of
hundred yards ~ east of the
Mudge Richardson well, the
county’s first producer, and has
been burning since Friday
night. The exact cause of the
broken connection and the fire
that followed remains unknown
An attempt was nde Mon-
day to cut off the Christmas
tree connections with an acety-

intense the attempt had to be
given up. It was hoped that if
the connections at the casing
head could be gotten out of the

Dan Moody predicts a hot
run off campaign. He says
most of the Hunter vote will
go to Sterling. “On' sober,
calm reflection,” said Moody,
“I feel sure the people have
awakened to the menace and
dangers of Fergusonism, and I
firmly believe they are going to
be spared such a scourge.
They will gird themselves and
go forth to battle for honest
government. When the people
fully realize what the return
of Fergusonism would mean,
they will rise up in righteous
indignation, in a swelling anger
that will not be denied, and for-
ever sweep the Fergusons from
the political horizon of Texas.”
Mrs. Ross Hogg was carried
to the Oak Lawn Sanitarium
'Tuesday morning for an X-ray
examination.
Constable Floyd arrested and
lodged in jail Monday after-
noon Frank Fellers, charged
with selling beer and it may be
that a complaint will be field
