Rheumatism means that the blood
has become saturated with uric acid
poison.
It does not require medical advice
to know that good health is absolutely
dependent upon pure blood. When
the muscles and joints become sore
and drawn with rheumatism, it is not
a wise thing to take a little salve and
by rubbing it on the sore spot, expect
to get rid of your rheumatics You
must go deeper than that, down deep
into the blood where the poison lurks

confesses to her father that she had
been enticed into the house by Mrs-
Clifton on the plea that she was All

been attacked by Judge Carter. In a
desperate struggle to save her honor
she said she had stabbed him with the

Dr. Rogers conceals th/ truth and
announces that Judge Carter had died
from heart disease. Meanwhile Leevig~

Constance Talmadge had an out and
out holiday in making her latest Se-
lect picture, “The Lesson," adapted
from the stories by Virginia Terhune
Van de Water, directed by Charles
Giblyn, and |n whih she is presented
by Lewis J. Selznick.
There is a great variety of exterior
scenes in the piece and the filming of
the story called for a succession >f
jaunts to nearby country places and
beach resorts- Director Charles Gib-
lyn says that although he was born
near New York he knows more of the
local geography now than he ever did
before.
First, the company went to Nikko
Inn, Harmon, and while the principal
object in view was motion photog-
raphy, there were many diversions.
Canoeing had a part in the picture and
that wasn’t exactly the most unpleas-
ant work in the world. Then there
was tennis, singing in the moonlight
and other forms of outdoor sports. The
difficulty, according to Director Gib-
lyn, was getting Miss Talmadge and
the other players to remember that
there was another day’s work ahead,
and retire at a reasonable hour.
Another location was a private es-
tate out at Larchmont, where the two
days were made into a continuous pic-
nic. 1
Other jaunts were to Atlantic City,
Long each and the Pocono Mountains.
Everything from bathing to mountain
climbing had a part in the program.
As a result, the spirit which per-
vades every moment of the play make!
it a real joy production—a pretty story
of "real folks" in human circumstances-
There are a few dramatic incidents
here and there in "The Lesson," but
the fundamental idea behind Constance
Talmadge’s latest picture is undiluted
simplicity and genuine happiness. "The
Lesson" will be the feature. attraction
here Monday and Tuesday at the
Crescent Theater.^ _______

WALLACEREID
There mere announcement that Wal-
lace Reid was to be seen in a new
photoplay was sufficient to pack the
Crescent Theater yesterday when his
new Paramount vehicle, “The House of
Silence," was displayed- The photo-
play was in every respect a satisfying
production and that it pleased all alike
was evidenced by the rapt attention
paid to every scene that was flashed
and which unfolded one of the most
absorbingly dramatic picture plays
ever seen in this city.
Mr. Reid appears as a wealthy club-
man who has a Holmes-like hobby for
investigating mysterious crimes. In
his community there is a mysterious
mansion known as “The House of Hi-
lence," which, although suspected by
the police to be the rendezvous of
criminals, led by a Mrs. Clifton, had
baffled every oficial effort to discover
evidence of criminality. One night
Levignet, the clubman and amateur
detective, in passing the house seas
a girl flee from it - in excitement and
she informs him that a man is dying
in the house and needs a physician’s
care.
Levignet summons Dr. Robers and
they enter the house together, where
they find the body of Judge Carter.
He had been slain with a hatpin, and
on examining it Dr. Rogers is appalled
when he recognizes it as the property
